If it's been aired in your country already, the bush fires ravaging my state are not located in my area as of yet. I was however stuck in the massive heatwave that preceded it. (DarkView and JP were the ones who suffered the most during that one. I hope they had air-conditioning! ... I sure didn't...)

I've just been inactive a bit for the past few days. My apologies to anyone who's been trying to contact me.
I hope the native Emu populations make it through.
Read the animal report on the heatwave page.

"There are many reports of Koalas wandering into urban yards and houses to drink water offered by residents; this behaviour is highly unusual as the animals do not normally drink water, as well as being naturally shy of people."

As for the Emu's, they'll be fine.
I did not, in fact, have good air-conditioning. It wasn't fun. But now my computer functions again, so we're all happy.

Good to hear you haven't been horribly burnt to death.
That's sad to hear that babies were killed in that fire, let alone parents and elderly people.

I say hang the bastard who committed this crime!
YES MY LOVE IS STILLL ALIVE!?

.> also you should like kidnap a koala
While in Australia the other day, I snagged this shot of Tiberath: http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6472034,00.jpg

Jp was also trying to cool down: http://media.npr.org/images/ap//AP_News_Wire:_World_News/ 1_APTOPIX_Australia_Wildfires.sff.jpg

He's still aliiiiiiiiiive.. still aliveeeeeeeeeeeee.
Good to hear. I couldn't remember exactly where you live. Luckly you were AFK on Chatters so I could be relatively sure you were ok.

I could have abandoned my home and just left the connection going.

We have a fire evacuation plan. It sums up to "flood the spouting with water and get the fuck out". =)

We only got Air Conditioning after the worst had passed. After four consecutive 40+ degrees Celsius days, coupled with a few high 30s, we got air conditioning on a following 29 degree Celsius day.

... That was painful.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but I eventually came to the conclusion that even if your house was ok your internet connection would be dead. A friend's land was hit, burnt everything except her house. Somehow her horses managed to get away once the fences burnt down and she recovered them all really easily.

Good plan. Don't forget to grab the HDDs on the way out. Wouldn't want to lose all that... data.

It's all recoverable in the long run. Just a crap load of MP3's, some website sources that are all stored on the server and a few BYOND sources I can make again if needs be. =)

Fix'd
