I just realized, due to Latoma's post, that Iron Man is a woman!

Iron Man
= Iron+Man
= Fe + man (Fe = iron element)
= Fe + male (Male is synonym of man)
= Female (OMG! :O!!)

You can't use synonyms to determine the name. At best, your comparisons will make his name Feman, which means absolutely nothing.

Actually, translation errors could do it.

English -> Japanese -> English again for example. I've seen that before (Japanese -> Chinese -> Japanese -> English turns "FIRE BLASTER" in Japanese into "Hot Shooter!"

No, I mean that literally. Gear Fighter Dendoh is a perfect example. The show was originally translated into Chinese, then they translated it out of Chinese back into Japanese to try to get the original meaning. Then they translated it into English. The final result was "FINAL ATTACK!" (Which was said verbally in the anime in English even in the Japanese version) was translated to "FINAL OFFENSIVE!"

Yeah, but it basically means the same thing in context. Male and female are two different things.

Also, I'm sure the chinese and japanese have a word for flamethrower they could've related to. It's not like translation would get that misconstrued.

"Viper Whip" became "Snake Biter' if I remember in Dendoh. Basically everything in plain English became screwed up.

No, they really just directly transed it off the Chinese Subtitles directly and got that. When you translate Japanese you can't tell if they're really speaking Japanese or English at times.
