- Aixelsyd's turn-based game of war, Strife, has entered the guild. I have no idea how to do anything in the game, but hopefully commands will be added to the menu soon so I won't have to guess. (I was able to figure out how to join. Go me! ;))
- Oasiscircle has released and submitted his text-based RTS, Civilization, to the guild. The game is in open beta and requires 2 players. A legend on the hub describes what the characters are.
- Bakasensei has announced and submitted Age of War, an RTS influenced by Age of Empires. The game is being hosted, but a download is not available yet. I accepted the submission, but we'll have to keep an eye on it to make sure players have a reasonable amount of access. On the bright side, it looks nifty.
- Acebloke is attempting to let subscriptions pay for development of Wargames and Wargames 2. He is currently planning on hosting 1 week a month. The dates have been posted. Meanwhile, a new version of Wargames has just been released with many fixes, changes, and additions.
- 172.16.0.1 released the player stats for Fortay and Infamous Zipcom. He followed up with a Fortay tournament (hosted by Kingstone99), which appears to have done rather well and helped reveal some bugs.
- Jeff8500 updated Real Time Defense with AI improvements and a new defeat popup.
- Tag Youre Pregnant attempted to host Fate. I don't know how well it went considering servers for the game are not being displayed on the hub, but Kunark is looking to fix that.
- Vermolius has announced a competitive base defense game, called Efencea. The game features beautiful, stylized art by Tayoko. Perhaps it will be released within the next week. Either way, here's another preview with some of the selectable boss units.
- Ganing is working on a base defense game with content from Kingdom Hearts. In the fangame, players will use a team of units to defend a keyhole from thousands of Heartless.
- SpikeNeedle has been hosting an old version of Yota's The Faces of War. I finally got to see the game and read the help file. I'm currently seeing Yota in the player list so maybe he'll be nagged into working on it some more.
- I'll bite. What is Koil working on?
- Geldonyetich is putting his MORPG plans on hold and starting Project MegaMule, a base defense game with persistent aspects inspired by MULE. The end result, intended to resemble Dwarf Fortress' microcosm building, could end up in BYOND RPG too, but I thought I'd mention it.
- Hey, wanna trick someone else into working on your strategy game idea?
- I updated the interface of PathWrath 2. I still need to add sounds to GrimTunnel, but I've been distracted by a new project. I should probably get the new project out of the way and announce it soon instead of staring in thought at the graphical interface.
Scott Nicholson went through his top ten game experiences in 2008. For the curious, his earlier review of the 18xx games can be found here.
Tommy Wallach just released an EP. Who is Tommy Wallach? He's the guy whose EP and 2005 album I just bought with last year's iTunes Christmas card... I don't think this song is on either.
Got news? How about a frelling reason why I can't buy anything in Steam's holiday sale through PayPal without being told there is not enough money in my account?
