As with each other 1 in 365.25 people, Christmas is my birthday. I'm 32 now. What would I like for Christmas/my birthday? Motivation to get back to work in BYOND.

It's not that I dislike working in BYOND at all, it's just that I've been getting easily sidetracked lately. Forums, Games, TV - I figure once you start doing one of these things without consideration for how long it'll take, before you know it the day is over and you got nothing done.

Part of the reason why I might have a hard time getting started is I don't like the direction Project Xenoverse has been going. Settling on one idea was somewhat creatively quashing. I don't think I was ready to go that far yet.

My next step will be to go back to the drawing board and redevelop the code with a more open-minded modular focus. I've said it before, but the advantage towards a modular focus is that code can be easily reused, allowing even failed experiments to contribute nicely towards future projects.
Happy birthday, and I hope you get the motivation you want.

Also, you should change the "31" on the box to the left of your blog. :)
Happy birthday!

I definitely agree with the modular approach to programming. I'm working on a shooter and the movement, elevation, accuracy, objective handling, and radar have all come from completely separate sub-projects.
Happy birthday, Geldonyetich!

Sadly, I never knew about "Modular Programming" until I came across IainPeregrine’s information about it. This is the current approach I'm doing with my LineWalk project.

I was fairly shocked at how long my motivation remained while using this approach. And that best part is, what you already mentioned, that I can easily reuse my code for future projects. Also, what usually keeps my motivation is working on something that is very complex, maybe the same will work for you?

Hopefully you will regain your motivation; I am still looking forward to your project!
Happy birthday, even though you have one of the worst birthdays of the year. Birthday-Christmas combos always fail =/
