I've been using a water filter for quite a while now. Now I don't know if it's enough. My town is being told to boil our water while they simultaneously tell us not to worry about it. I guess there's an issue with surface water contaminants and a (possibly unrelated) problem with sewage.

The problems have existed for a while, but my town has not been able to comply with changes in the law. On one hand, this is supposed to mean that the problem is due to a change in the law rather than a change in the water. On the other hand, if the water has not changed then we've been drinking what should have been boiled for quite some time!
Sounds really, really fun. Where do you live?

[Edit]

Based on this and your voting problem, it sounds like somewhere I don't want to live.
O beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of graaaaain...

Shameless ribbing aside, water is definitely going to be a hot conflict item between Canada and the United States some time in the next century. Canada controls a lot of the clean water in North America, and the aquifers in the U.S. are having trouble keeping up with demand.
