New update to Generiquest.

There is now a much better, more detailed (and mandatory) tutorial at the start of the game. It should take 5-10 minutes to do, but give players a start in the game.
On top of that there is also a help file for new players.
The guidebook has been updated and has a map of all dungeon locations.

Additionally the towns layout has changes slightly.

I am also working on a "job building", which will offer generic quests based on your level, and list any NPCs in the game that may have a quest for you to do.

Also, am still working on Wizard class and a new dungeon. Will be finished by Tuesday/Wednesday at the latest.

Hopefully these changes will help to stop players from logging out 2 minutes after logging in, because they're probably not use to using their brain while playing a game, and need someone to constantly hold their hands :[

Ok, I think it may be official. The majority of people who play BYOND games may very well be brain dead.
I purposely made the tutorial simple, and easy to follow. You are informed of how to start the tutorial as soon as you make a character. Any objectives you have to do for the tutorial are clearly highlighted in bold text. The map the tutorial takes place on is tiny, and has 4 NPCs, it is impossible to not find someone, or get lost.
Despite how easy the tutorial is, how you are given clear and easy to understand instructions and how you basically have someone holding your hand through the entire tutorial people are still asking stupid questions.
"What do I do? How do I fight stuff?"
"Do the tutorial"
"How?"
"Talk to the guy in green, like you were told to when you logged in"
"How?"
"FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"
UUGHHHHHHH!! Seriously. How can people be so... Stupid? How hard is it to follow simple written instructions!??
Everytime someone like this logs into the game I lose a bit more of my will to make the game, and a bit more of my will to live. Thankfully these people are to dumb to even understand what a button labled HELP does, and never learn how to communicate with the rest of the players due to this.
But since the tutorial is mandatory to play the actual game I hopefully wont have many of these sorts of people actually playing the game (your character isn't even saved if you cannot do something as simple as the tutorial, hahaha).

Oh yeah, I am totally wiping all save files off the server. Just to force EVERYONE to do the tutorial, so I can filter out any idiots that may have gotten past.
Hahahaha.
Sounds good!

I may actually try to play again soon. And yes, I need my hand held. ;p
I found the game pretty self explanatory, mostly because Generiquest is...well...generic, and I don't even claim to be intelligent or have much gaming experience.

In reality it is only the games setting and theme that is generic. It's gameplay is actually something that is above generic. You actually have to use your brains to do things :[
But the whole point of my rant was people are to stupid to understand how to pick up items, when they are told in plain and easy to understand English "To pick up an item stand on top of it, and press the G key".
It has nothing to do with the game being generic, or even hard to understand. It is just a lot of people on BYOND are beyond just stupid, they are totally retarded.
