Anyone ever heard of that game? Or anyone ever heard of The Magic Man. Well if you haven't heard of him, shame on you. He's a great guy, and one awesome programmer. His game Genriquest is one awesome game and I think some people need to try it out. Don't knock until you try it. I'm doing this because his game isn't well noticed and his game is just like one of the best RPGs out there. It uses things other games wouldn't even think about using and I think everyone should try it if you like RPG.
An endorsement by Yash, what more could you ask for!
"He's a great guy, and one awesome programmer."

Just because the game may be good doesn't mean the creator is an awesome programmer.

Also, his little rant turned me away from any project of his. It's probably a generic rpg anyways.
What rant?
The post where he complained about how no one was interested in his wall of text, which was information on his game. He also said how he wasn't going to release it to BYOND because we don't deserve it, or something along the lines of it. Then he insulted several people who replied and also claimed his game is the best on BYOND.

I hate it when people bitch and moan about their games, so I decided to have nothing to do with him… no matter how “great” his game is.
I missed a lot, he used to help me with a few coding errors but thats all I knew him as lol

I am probably not a great programmer, and I know for a fact that the game is not the best programmed out there.
But the game works, it should run relatively lag free and there should be no major bugs in the game.
The game is also modular in design. I can unplug any part of the game and use it in another project with ease (which is basically what I did with a few systems), these systems are also highly customizable, and make adding new stuff easier to do.
I might not be the best programmer even, or even good. But I've got a game that works, is relatively bug free and wont break after a while due to something silly (like a limitation in BYOND being reached). And that is good enough for me!

Damn right it is generic! But since when did generic mean a game was bad?
Personally, I would rather play a solid, good game that is generic than some crappy "lol INNOVASHUN!!!" game that is not good.
But you know, I play games because they are fun, not because they have "HYPER X INNOVATIVE BACKFLIPPPE SYSTEM!!!" or something equally as silly.

Your loss I guess! Not mine.

I guess we are all different, if there was a generic game in which I've played countless times, I rather turn off the computer and find something more interesting.

Sure, no one loses here; at least we are on the same page! Good luck on future releases and hopefully you can bring intelligent people onto BYOND, we really need more.

I guess your definition of generic is different to mine.
By generic I am talking about the theme of the game. Warriors and wizards slaying slimes, undead and dragons.
It doesn't use some cyber-post-apocalyps-steam-magiteck-punk setting where you play as a magiteck crafted steam battleguard (warrior) or a magiteck bending steam oracle (wizard).

Other than that the setting of the game I don't particularly think the game is that generic. At least not by the standards of BYOND.

Funnily enough, of the 60 or so people that have played the game, there is only 1-2 that I would have considered to be... Of lesser intellect. Most other players have been fairly normal people I'd say.

You don't have to get your panties all up in a bunch. Who cares what he said, it shouldn't have any say in whether you play his game or not. If you don't want to play it because you don't want to, fine, but if you don't want to play it because he said some things that you obviously couldn't handle, then don't say anything. Just don't play it.
Cavern, who are you to say I can't handle what someone said, I believe you do not know me. As the saying goes, this is an A and B conversation, so C your way out. I'm not going to attempt to start an argument with you as it will be pointless, so have a nice day.

That's somewhat surprising to me as even the best game on and off of BYOND attracts a lot of "unintelligent" people. Your game may be too challenging for those people or you've been very lucky. Also, I guess it was pretty dim-witted of me to judge your game based on your attitude, though I'm not into RPGs, I may check it out in the near future.
It simply comes down to one thing, non-anime games are really not that popular on Byond no matter how good the game is. You might get 20-30 people at best.

I am not trying to start an argument with you. The only reason I made that comment is because if people who have never played his game before see that, it may give them the wrong impression and turn them away from the only decent RPG on BYOND.

Well, I guess they should have followed what you originally said ;)

"Who cares what he(as in calus) said, it shouldn't have any say in whether you play his(magic man) game or not."

But I could careless if they will not play a game because of something I said about it. My situation was a little different, as I originally said; Magic Man insulted a few people, which did include me. So this turned me away from the product he was creating.

I also did not say anything too negative about the game, besides it was generic (which Magic Man proved could be good). If what I say turns a few people away, I’m sure those are not the type of players Magic would want in his game.
