Well, alot of you may like myself, realized that non-BYOND forums for a BYOND game often fault to get an impressive number of members. I am blogging today to brag about how I have overcome this obstical. Here is what my ivision free forum has.
Our members have made a total of 2,368 posts
We have 3,240 registered members
The newest member is Andrew600
Most users ever online was 26 on Jul 9 2007, 01:56 AM
Now, notice how my member count(underlined) is ALOT bigger the my post count. This is because I came up with an ingenious way to force people into registering to my forum. How did I do that? I made my game require a registered username and password in order for someone to join it. It wasn't easy however it wasn't hard either. I think the hardest part was dealing with the interface.
Anywho, creating a system like this is more then just good for member count. It is also good in the aspect of controling your game(which we all know BYONDers love to do). You see, if I IP ban someone on my forum, they are no longer able to play my game. Pretty neat huh :)?... I know this system works because I was dumb enough to IP ban myself(had to get someone else to unban me).
Well, thanks all I wanted to write about. Hope you enjoyed the blog, and have a nice day.

Sounds pretty good but at the same time you could lose players that way. Some people don't want to register with another site to play so they'll just go, "Screw that" and move along. It has it's good and bad. But nice job.

You're still using a crappy forum where people could easily spoof others' keys. Forcing people to register is no thing to brag about either, that's pretty f***ed up. Well, there was a small period in time when it seemed asthough you weren't able to get a forum on BYOND anymore. So what did I have to do? I had to make an invision free one. So shut up you stupid jerk ya smell like poopies. P.S. I deleted you post because of the use of the F word.. Sorry :/ |
This can be great, but can be worked around fairly easily.
You can ban someone on the forums, which stops them from joining ANY GTA: BYOND server, which is great if that person is a huge rule breaker or something. However, IP banning them can be worked around by using a proxy to access the forums. Then again, by using BYOND's browser it makes it slightly more difficult to log in using a proxy, but not impossible. |

You should get back into making BYOND games again. Also, you should check out this shooting system I made. There is a link to it on my members page - > http://www.byond.com/members/Ss4toby/files/ Pixel%20Bullets%202.zip Two things in it I didn't make though. The line antherism and the circle one. I did however have to convert everything over to work in pixels and change it from outputing a location to outputing a numeric value. |
