I'd make a hub, ut the game is not nearly finished, so I wont.
Open BYONDs pager, go to File -> Open Location and type in.
http://82.21.173.29:5500 (Game is back up, but I am in bed right now)
Then read this while you wait to connect to the game, as the game as no help file at the moment.
Firstly, this is a DEMO for the purposes of testing. It is likely to include bugs and what not.
Report any bugs, errors or anything (even a typo) here. Suggestions, criticism, feedback and so on is also welcome.
Anyway. Pick a name, class, secondary class and so on.
But understand, ONLY Samurai and Necromancers have all of their skills implamented. Clerics have several healing spells, but nothing else.
After that you'll want to know the controls.
Arrow keys to move.
A to attack something you are facing.
Clicking on things will either target them, or for NPCs/shops talk to them.
Dragging a usable item or skill to the window below the characters stats will assign it to a hot key. Pressing that number key will use that skill/item.
Chat commands are simple enough.
Typing things in will say it, people in view hear this.
Entering "! " (no quote marks, but leave the space) will shout the message, meaning everyone on the server hears it.
To whisper to someone type in "/w 'name' " (ignore the " " quote marks, but not the ' ' ones) followed by the message.
For example, to whisper to The Magic Man you type in...
/w 'The Magic Man' Hello!
If you are in a party entering "% " before the message will send the message to all of the party members.
That is all for the commands.
Now see this image.
All the marked locations are at the moment the only locations of any real interest.
Passageway Cave, Inn Basement, Sewers and Golem Laboratory are the dungeons. Anything else is either a shop, or a place to pick up a quest.
Inn Basement is the lowest level dungeon, for level 1-3 players.
Passageway Cave is for levels 1-5 players.
Sewers is for level 5-12 players.
Golem Lab is much harder, for levels 20-70 players.
(Be warned, there is an unfinished dungeon behind the church, entering it will probably cause you to get stuck).
What I need for people to test is these dungeons, quests and skills.
Also, a few notes.
To raise a stat, go to the status screen and click on the name of the stat. One click will raise a stat once.
It is advised all players start off by buying equipment, especially Samurai, as they cannot use skills without a sword.
Samurai can only use two handed sword weapons/katanas. And light/medium armor.
Clerics can use blunt weapons and staffs, and cloth/light/medium armor.
Necromancers can use staff weapons and cloth armor.
Other classes can use specific equipment too, but since they have no skills I doubt it is important to list them.
All the current dungeons have boss monsters. These are unique monsters on a long respawn time, they also happen to be very strong, and practically impossible for a single player to beat. They need a team of 3-5 people to defeat them. Any players who can form a team to test out these monsters would be a major help! (The Golem Lab has 11 bosses, a team of 10 people is advised for this dungeon)
The skill shop sells scrolls for skills, for the purposes of testing these scrolls have no price, and unlimited uses.
Additionally, a main class can learn any skill, provided they meet the minimum level for doing so, using a scroll again will level up that skill (if possible), upto a maximum of level 10.
For a secondary class skill you can learn them upto level 8, or if the level required to learn them is less than 35 (as such, you can never master secondary class skills).
The arena is also unfinished. You can enter any of the dirt areas and fight in PVP, but what happens to you due to this is your own fault.
The item shop also sells orbs. "Level 10 Orb" and so on, using these items will set your level to the level of the orb used, again this is for testing purposes only (you also have to use orbs at a higher level than you).
I don't have the best connection in the world. Download speed is great, upload speed sucks. As such any more than maybe 10 players online will result in lag. (maybe less, as my internet connection is also shared)
Finally, there is no fancy title screen, or no ability to save your character. At the moment they are not needed.

Looks good. Especially for a demo. :)
I have no complaints. If anything though, things should be a little more (even if just slightly) direct. |

Looks good. Especially for a demo. :) Yeah, at the moment I realise the town is big, empty and you're not pointed in any real direction. This is why I added info to the post above. I guess next is adding a little stuff to ease players into the game. A title screen maybe, an introduction, like a tutorial and then an objective of some sorts? |

Skill scrolls can be purchased from he arena/skill shop. Additionally I have fixed a few bugs and added a title screen/short tutorial. Next I will work on some sort of help file and giving items descriptions, as well as giving the players a little more of a push in the right direction. |
GAME IS DOWN FOR NOW.
Will put it back up at the latest by Saturday, but am hoping for late Thursday night. I've added descriptions for all ingame items. Currently adding a saving system for the game (will use client side saving with encryption). Which is more or less done at the moment, but needs fancy interfaces to make it look nice, and then testing. After that I will be expanding the introduction tutorial and adding a help file in the form of a guide book. It will include a basic map with key locations pointed out, details about what all stats do, what class roles are and so on. (At a later date I'll add a more official help file too). Once that is done and the bugs found are fixed I will hopefully create a hub for the game and generate some interest for it. Where things go from there, who knows! (Most likely, new class and new dungeon within the next 1-2 weeks, and similar until all classes are implamented with minor additions inbetween). |
Initial steps would include.
Visit weapon/armor shop and buy equipment.
Then visit Arena/Skill shop and buy appropriate skills.
Then visit Inn and talk to both NPCs you find. They have several quests.
Go to Inn Basement and complete quests.
I know the town is fairly big and does not have a lot to do at the moment, but there is enough content to at least test al the systems in place.
