Ooh, Generic RPG with Illegally-used graphics receives less fanfare in the byond community than that of some random internet community...

You seem to like the Game maker community, why not go back if you hate the byond community so much?

Bahaha. I find it ironic that you are pointing out the "illegally used graphics". Provided most BYOND games make use of more than just illegal graphics, a lot more.
By the way, not all of the graphics I am using are illegally used, actually I'd say less than half of them are. I am making use of custom graphics made in a style similar to RMXP graphics, they are not illegal, and are freely released to people with the intention that they are used.
But that is still a big improvement over a lot of BYOND games just so you know.
As said before, since Anime is so popular the people who “create” games based off of it can grab a player base easily. You have showed us pictures, amazing! I’m not going to get thrilled over some text and pictures about what you claim your game will be like. I want to test the game out myself, but that could just be me, I’m more of a “hands on” person.

Silk probably got a huge fan base for his RPG because he is known throughout the community. We know nothing about you, besides the fact that you continue to look down upon the BYOND community and now claim your game as being one of the best.

Saying you’re not releasing your game to the community is not doing us any harm. We could really care less. Throwing your little temper tantrum has also turned me away from looking at further development about your game. Also, to tell you the truth, your game did not interest me before, maybe that is the why we do not care?

“I post on another website saying "I am making a MORPG, may have demo ready in 1-2 weeks". And by the next day I had a whole ton of people asking about the game, they want to know everything about it. What I am using to make it, what it looks like, what features it will include and so on. Most of these people would probably try the game out as well, if I released a demo.”

Do you mind me asking what site this is, because from the forums I have visited, no one has gotten excited over text and pictures. Also, the Game Maker Community prohibits post in the Work in Progress thread which doesn’t include a demo. You like the GMC so much, why not follow that route?

Saying that you have put more effort into this game than most people on BYOND is also an insult. I have worked on different games for several years for BYOND and off of BYOND; though I do not get a great response from either community, I enjoy the challenge of game creation. Not everything will be given to you on a silver plate; you need to work to give your game the recognition it may deserve.

And after a few updates the game will be 80% Zeta-free, right?

You're basically doing exactly what the crowd you so loath is doing. Rather than taking an entire project and editing it, you're just using the stolen artwork. Despite the general mentality of pixel art on BYOND, stealing artwork is no different than stealing source code.

I've never heard of your game until this BAAAAAAW post of yours. This is entirely your own fault. You should be out promoting your game, taking in feedback, and bouncing ideas around in Chatters.

While I respect you as a developer and I think it's awesome you spent a lot of time and effort into your project, I think you're doing it for the wrong reason. You're coming off like you don't like making games at all. It's like you just want to be the guy in charge of a game with a large active community.

I think you should take a step back, take a break, stay offline a bit. Decide why you even started with BYOND in the first place. If finishing your project is just too much for you then there's nothing wrong with shelving it for now and coming back later. Just be sure to make a backup copy!
Shafted by market forces.

You obviously failed to realize the point of the original post I made.
BYONDs community simply lacks much support for any games outside of anime games. Lack of support is something that can kill a game.
Most people are so ignorant that they cannot even see what is infront of their face, the post was suppose to rile people up, and get them to open their eyes a little bit. Guess most people failed to see that.

Again, guess most people on BYOND fail to even see what I am doing.
True enough I am looking down on BYOND, in the same sort of way that a gardener looks down on the plants he is watering.
I want BYOND to grow, that's not going to happen until someone gets themselves a pair of balls and starts admitting that BYOND has a lot of areas that could do with improvements, guess I am the only person at the moment with the sort of balls to do that. Unfortunatly I cannot do anything about that, other than point out these things, why they are bad and how they can be improved.

That is a load of rubbish. As it is right now, BYOND needs all the good games it can get. The loss of a single good game to BYOND is anything but "no harm done".
BYOND is currently stagnating, and is in need of anything and everything that will help it to grow, good games is one of the things that can do that.

I have said it before, I don't like the Game Maker community. And I am pretty sure I said it in EXACTLY those words, the whole point of me mentioning the Game Maker community was because they have done something to grow, something BYOND has not done.

Baaaaaaawww about it. Because I don't see anygames you've released that look like they had "years of effort" put into them.
Wow, Yeah i never heard of this project until now, but after seeing you having a tantrum over not getting players immediately, I'm not sure i would want to play it.

I dont even see the need for making this blog post, especially if you already have people playing your game. The smart thing to do wouldve been to post about the game and, i dont know, maybe host it or show the demo?

But nah, have fun with your GMC, its not bothering us, especially those of us who didnt know of this project.
We've been reading the same blogs and forums, yes? Where anything anime related gets flogged and bricked in minutes? Where exactly do you perceive this 'support' from?

We lack support for anything outside anime games, huh? Have you ever been in chatters? Ever?

We're ignorant too? Do you know how many people are working on their own rpgs? Most people don't flaunt it about because it is a daunting task. The BYOND tip of the day tells you why they don't talk about it. They're smart about it.

Silk probably got a huge fan base for his RPG because he is known throughout the community. We know nothing about you, besides the fact that you continue to look down upon the BYOND community and now claim your game as being one of the best.

If you want BYOND to grow, do something about it besides bitching. That's all I seem to ever hear from you. Make us something to play, already. You probably spend more time whining about us than actually making a game.

Yes, and most of us realize that BYOND needs good games. Pmitch is making DBOII (yes, it's anime, it's also stellar thus far), Techgamer is making an RPG of some sort. Myself and Tekken are making an RPG. Fizz is making a pokemon game(maybe not any more, but it was some form of a game, anyway). Keeth is making a MUD. Sooooooooooooo many people are making games, but, as you said, they take TIME. Most of us have lives to attend to, and this is a back-burner project. We get as much work as we can done, and we try (Sorry if I'm speaking for someone who doesn't want it).
Do you mind me asking what site this is, because from the forums I have visited, no one has gotten excited over text and pictures. Also, the Game Maker Community prohibits post in the Work in Progress thread which doesn’t include a demo. You like the GMC so much, why not follow that route?

Calus has plenty of projects, as I recall, and most of them are just unreleased. He also said he works on and off, not constantly. Did you miss that?

[sorry about the god-awful formatting, I know it pains to read :(]

There is just one major problem with that you are saying.
I am not stealing the graphics. Technically I have paid to use them and am in no way stealing them. The license agreement just states that they cannot be used for anything but in RMXP.
As for the freeware graphics, they are released for free use, and the creators give public permission for people to use them. It is like using a library that you can download on BYOND. Neither is stealing, they were both made so people can use them.

I don't like making the majority of a game actually. Things I do not like include.

Making any content.
Handling any resources (sound/graphics)
And the writing of any sort of plot/storylines.

I like making systems that make things work... And that is about it. (Though I am fond of planning out technical details too)
I like making a monsters AI, but I do not like the process of making monsters.
I like making a system to handle quests, but dislike actually adding quests.

And you're damn right I want to be in charge of a large community.
I am GREEDY. Money, power, women, the world, none of it is enough for me. Bahahaha.

I just released it somewhere else first for the simple reason that I knew it would get more attention, and that would help me fix more issues. (The last time I released something on BYOND I left it for days... One person logged in and logged out after about 10 seconds).

Just doesn't seem like it is worth the time or effort to release things to the BYOND community to be honest!
THIS IS ALL AN ELABORATE RUSE TO GET PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THE MAGIC MAN'S RPG.

YOU HAVE ALL BEEN HAD!
I know.

Your mother.
You know what's the worst part? I had some respect for you before this now I just think of you as a moron. You want to have a game where the players are dying for updates, and you look like the cool creator that everyone gets excited about when they see him on.

Sure that's not the worst reason to make a game, but at least don't cry about attention you don't deserve.

Go away. You obviously failed to even see the point of the original post.

Oh, by the way. Only very few games are made for any reason other than to get people playing them.
Do you honestly think the companies making commercial games make them for any reason other than to get people to buy them? Hell no, they just want money, and lots of it.
Why would a normal person be any different. I want as many people as possible playing this game, and if I can squeeze some money out of them, SURE AS HELL AM GOING TO.

Your previous post about your game failed to interest me and apparently others, and this is our fault?

“I want BYOND to grow, that's not going to happen until someone gets themselves a pair of balls and starts admitting that BYOND has a lot of areas that could do with improvements, guess I am the only person at the moment with the sort of balls to do that.”

That actually made me laugh, you act like you’re the only one who thinks BYOND has some flaws.

“Baaaaaaawww about it. Because I don't see anygames you've released that look like they had "years of effort" put into them.”

And your game doesn’t look like months of effort has been put in. Here is what went through my mind when I see your post. “Hmm, yet another game which uses RPG Maker graphics…and the game play and information does not interest me, I have seen this before” *Presses the back button*

I am all for helping people develop games, but you seem to ignore others input and want to insult others. I will admit, my games are nothing spectacular, but at least I have the balls to admit this, unlike you. You see, your game is nothing new; it is a typical RPG which we have seen countless time. You expect us to get excited over nothing, get over it, it is just a game.
