This statement has come up a lot as of late, because of this Wikipedia debacle.
A lot of people out there are saying the developers of BYOND (Not the software developers, the game developers... I need a way to distinguish the two. From here on, BYOND Staff will be labelled as BYOND Staff, and DM programmers as developers, got it?) need to start making more and original games.
What I read when someone says that is: BYOND Developers need to pull their fingers out and make games for us!
I find this to be very, very annoying, sometimes borderline insulting. We work at our own pace, in accordance with our own lives and time-frames. A lot of us have jobs (I envy you!) and loved-ones (I envy you too!) to take care of. We can't afford to spend all our time and effort developing games. We're working on them, but we're working on them slowly. Patience is a virtue.
You can't expect us to read your posts and say: "Crap! They're right! I've been lazy! I really should get this game out! 'Honey! No sex tonight! I have to finish this, oh and can you call the office, tell them I wont be in for a week! I have to finish this 2D game!'". It just doesn't work that way, it'd be cool if it did (because that means the opposite would be true, we can say: "Honey, sex tonight!"... ahh, what a world) but that's just not the case.
The fact is, these things take time. So unless you're willing to pay our wages and... do other things for us... it's just not going to happen that way.
Besides, if you have the time to demand more games, you clearly have the ability to better use that time and learn Dream Maker yourselves. It's not hard, honest! If you really try, you can have the basics down in a week. Give it a month or so, and you should be able to power-out those games others can't find the time to do.

Well, there are plenty of people making games at the moment. The problem is they're rarely finished or released!

When it all actuallity, its the anime crowd who you see working on games, trying to get better etc. Why dont we see this with the rest of byond? You rarely see them on the pixel forums trying to get better, you rarely even see them making ads there. No, theyre too busy bashing everyone else. | |
There are people working really hard to to make an Orginal game.
Just take Fint for instance, He has separated himself from every other Pokemon game and made Pokemon Citrine. Yeah, need to give more credit to the Anime people. | |
