This is more of GIVE ME IDEAS that what should I work on.
But the question is simple. What sort of dungeons would you like to see in a online RPG?
Some info about the game first.
It is only a small game world. It has exactly 1 town and takes place on an island which consists of 7 200x200 maps. One of these maps is the town, the other 6 maps are mostly either forest, cliffs or grassy areas. I'll upload a map sometime later.
Anyway, the objective is to cram as much locations as possible into this small area. All these locations are in the form of dungeons.
The dungeons planned so far are...
Inn Basement (lvl 1-3) - Small dungeon in the ins basement.
Passage (lvl 2-5) - Small cave dungeon, as name implies it is more of a passage than anything else.
The Sewers (lvl5-20) - Town sewer system, several sections to it.
Ancient Cathedral (lvl 15-22) - Dungeon behind cave, lot of undead monsters.
Derilict Golem Laboratory (lvl 20 - 70) - Dungeon with lots of golems in it.
Wizards Tower - Large tower in town full of magical enemies and puzzels.
Vampires Castle - Castle full of vampires, high level dungeon.
Underground Temple Ruins - Temple ruins, enterance is found in the sewers. High level dungeon.
"The Cave" - Unassuming cave, but is actually enterance to several other dungeons.
The Dragons Lair - Short, high level dungeon with a dragon boss (enterance to it is in the cave).
Underground Lake - Vast, expansive cave with a lake in it. Inhabited by lots of strange creatures. (Enterance is in the cave).
Seaside Cave - cave near the sea, lot of marine animals in it.
Merfolk Palace - Underwater castle at the end of the seaside cave. Lot of fish monsters.
The Dungeons - Abandoned prison sight, full of lot of vengeful ghouls and criminals.
The Ruins - Ancient ruins situated near the dungeons. Lot of high level monsters and demons here.
Dungeons with levels next to their names are finished, the Golem Lab has a wide level range because of the way it is designed, each area has a different level range, starting at 20-25, finishing at 60-70.
That is all I have planned at the moment (some names are likely to change). The intention is that since there is so little to explore on this island you will have to explore dungeons to progress. You wont just go to a random location because it has monsters that give good exp. You will have to go to dungeons and explore them (a lot of them are like console RPG dungeons, to progress you will have to solve puzzles/defeat bosses and so on, which means sometimes working as a team). Which means there needs to be a varied selection of dungeons for all level ranges (game wont include much grinding, again the intention is that a dungeon might take you 1 hour to do, but you will never need to do it more than 1-2 times before you can go to the next dungeon).
So, taking all this into account. What sort of dungeons do you think should be included in the game?
Detailed explanations are more than welcome!
For an example of what a dungeon is like, the Ancient Cathedral is inside of a cave. Just outside of the cathedral to the left a bit is a graveyard. It has several zombies and a boss zombie spawn inside of it.
Once inside the Cathedral there is a typical church room, it has an altar, pews and an organ, it has 5 ways to go. But one of these ways cannot be opened yet because it is sealed.
To break this seal you have to go through the other 4 passage ways and break 4 crystals, however, each of these crystals is guarded by a guardian.
Once all 4 crystals are destroyed the seal is not broken! It also has a (much stronger) guardian guarding it. Only by defeating it can the seal be broken.
Once the seal is broken you there is a passageway and a small room, with nothing but a single coffin inside of it. Disturbing the coffin will spawn the final dungeons boss, an ancient vampire that was sealed away. Though it is drastically weakened it will still put up a good fight. Defeating this boss will grant you access to a future dungeon, the vampires castle. Where you will fight this boss again, only he will be at his full power and much more difficult to beat.
