Basically until I can be bothered to work on some large scale project again I am going to work on a smaller project, if only to keep me busy.

So what sort of game do you think BYOND needs that I could make?
It cannot be any sort of grandiose game that would take longer than a week to make.
I also do not feel like making any sort of RPG, stratergy game or board game.
And finally, it cannot be a fangame of any sort.

So, what sort of game would you like to see? And what sort of features would you like it to have?
Fighting game, or platformer.

It should obviously be a type of game BYOND can decently handle. BYOND is not suited towards making any fast paced or heavily action based games.
Fighting and platform games are examples of this.
...have you seen Kajika's Megaman game?

Yeah, for BYOND it might be kind of impressive. But it still felt clunky to play.
If he'd have used something like Game Maker the results would have been a much smoother game all round, and it would have been easier to make.

I have decided to use BYOND and not Game Maker for a reason. I don't want to try and push BYONDs boundries and try to make something it is not suited for. I want to use it to make a small, multiplayer game making use of the features and functions BYOND is good at.
If I wanted to make a face paced action game I'd have used Game Maker (I am much better at using it than BYOND) because the results would have been much better.

Also, lets not try and turn this into some argument about what BYOND is and isn't good at/suited to.
I simply want suggestions as to what people would like to see on BYOND. Your suggestions, though valid aren't what I am looking for as there is probably a lot more than a weeks worth of work involved in making either a fighting or platform game (this is taking into account I will be doing all the work, planning, programming, spriting and making music/sound effects).
Fun board (or board game-esque) games, like LRS, would be fun.
BYOND handles board games and the likes very well, like Pop said.
How about sudoku...
I just don't want to make a board game for one simple reason. I don't like them! That is all.
Wheres cavern's post?
We need something simple, yet addicting. A board game would be nice, but it should be something original and not thought of. Also it should be player v. player.

Also, Chris-g1 sudoku fucking sucks, I hate that shit.

TMM, don't lie. You must like at the least one board game :P... UNO!!

You say sudoku sucks then suggest somthing like UNO o_o... eww

Sudoku is good IMO
Sorry!

If anyone is wondering, I mean the board game. Sorry! > Trouble.
Monopoly would be interesting.

Probably ended up deleting it by accident, haha. I do that a lot. If I don't delete it while trying to reply then I end up editing it or something.

I was also thinking of something along the lines of having player vs player as well. It doesn't require I make a lot of content or anything (which takes the longest time to do) because it is simply about players having fun winning against each other.

Also. I do not like board games, admittedly I don't play them much... Actually at all. But that is because I just don't like them.

Anyway, at the moment I am heading in the direction of a crazy killfest team vs team game, like Proelium, only with various game types (not just kill everyone!!).
Relatively simple and easy to make I'd say!
Though I have no idea about anything like settings at the moment. Could be warriors and wizard type fantasy, or humans vs monsters/aliens (fantasy, modern or futuristic settings), army vs army (again fantasy, modern or futuristic) or maybe even giant robots fighting.
Who knows? But that is what I am going with unless someone else gives me a better idea that is not a board game, because I really don't want to make a board game.

If I don't get any better ideas by the time I wake up tomorrow then that is what I am going with.
Sounds like a good enough idea to me. You might as well just stick with that.
I'm still waiting for just the right ORPG that will unite the community of BYOND.

Though, you're not interested in that.

Since that isn't it, I want a easy-to-learn yet deep action game.
Someone should be able to pick it up within a few minutes, but mastering it should take a much longer time.

I kind of did this with Faction Wars, but Faction Wars was too frustrating of a game because of poor controls and camera behavior.
Something like an Ultima clone or a 2D version of Morrowind.

I have actually been working on a MORPG for a while now. Well, working on it on and off for 2 or so months now.
It is hard to get any time to work on it because I work awkward hours a lot of the time.
I have still not planned out a lot of things in it, such as half of the classes, a lot of items/equipment and so on. I have ideas for some dungeons, but not many, and nearly no ideas for quests.

At the moment the game has a lot of the framework down. Most of the systems the game will use are already in place.
But there is still so much missing from the game before it could be considered playable, and adding stuff is a pain in the ass to say the least. Especially importing graphics.

I could just as easily work on this project, but I doubt I'd get much done in a week.
Needs more Final Fantasy 1 fan games, possibly actual turn based instead of something like Final Fantasy Online did.

I do like FFO, but I'd like to see a BYOND FF1 with actual turn based combat.
