So they're spoofing Juno, The Incredible Hulk, Enchanted, Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Speed Racer, and a bunch of other movies that have been released in the last year. Wait a sec--aren't they supposed to be spoofing disaster movies? None of the above are disaster films.

The sad thing is, this misses the boat on so many levels. Disaster movies are ripe for spoofing and even the great Airplane! never spoofed more than one or two at once. They could have a gigantic unsinkable luxury cruise ship catch fire while sinking as a perfect storm rolls in during a planet-killing meteor strike, and it'd be great. At least pick a different title if you're gonna be lazy about what you spoof. So many opportunities wasted. I wish Hollywood would stop throwing money at this "franchise". Good gads, not another _____ Movie.
Loading Ready Run says it best.

That was great Superantx, and I agree... Scary movie was great, hell even Scary movie 2 was good, after that it started sucking. They don't even try to be funny anymore, very low budget and poor acting it's like a youtube video that wouldn't make the front page.
I'll watch it online i guess. but they come up with horrible names now. THey cant even spoof things good anymore. So chances are i wont like it

Agreed, those 2 writers or so from Scary Movie should stop making all this other crap...
Scary Movie was the only good movie in this range.

As for other parodies: Meet the Spartans let me down so very much.

Good spoof movies are no longer being made alas. The days of Robin Hood: Men in Tights, National Lampoons: Loaded Weapon and Dracula: Dead and Loving it are long gone.
Well, if you stick "Teenage" in that line, it works out alright.
I hesitate to call you slow Lummox, but this is like what, at least the sixth, that's been made purely based on trailers from three weeks earlier and what ever was on the front page of YouTube at the time.

Scary Movie 3, Scary Movie 4, Meet The Spartans, Epic Movie*, Date Movie. I'm sure there's been a few slipped in there I've missed.

Scary Movie 1+2 and Not Another Teen Movie were probably the only ones that had legitimate writers who understood the concept of sending something up (although Scary Movie 2 may have just got lucky, seeing as half the movies out at the time were remakes of old horror movies).

I wish Hollywood would stop throwing money at this "franchise".

I wouldn't put money in one now that people seem to be wising up to the whole deal, but back about three or four movies ago I would have gladly thrown money into them for a cut of the profit. These things are the equivalent of movie tie-in games. You pay for it, it gets made, you get your share of the 'crap, we didn't check to see if anything good was playing before we got to the cinema' money.

*The main plot was based around Chronicles of Narnia, so it almost slips in as a legitimate parody, but considering 90% of the movie was based almost directly on Chronicles of Narnia they didn't really do much to send it up. Instead they opted for MTV references and lame gags.
I didn't see later Scary Movies but my understanding is #3 took jabs at The Ring and other popular horror movies of the time. Meet the Spartans was obviously "Let's just parody anything we can think of" so I wasn't too surprised there. Date Movie was headed in this incoherent direction for sure though, and Epic Movie even more so, but I think they at least tried to do something somewhat kinda related to their title. This is where everybody can agree that they've fully crossed the line from fail to epic fail.

The reason Scary Movie 1 and Scary Movie 2 were the best out of the four movies is because the Wayans brothers wrote the first two. For some reason, they did not want to write 3 and 4, which is why they both sucked.

I also agree that Disaster Movie is going to be horrible. I get mad everytime I see the commercial. I have no idea what the people behind these movies are thinking. Epic Movie sucked, I couldn't watch more than half of it.

I take it you didn't see "Adult Movie"? No idea if it's the same crew (it is a sex movie after all), but it's still epic fail + 1.
