I'm finding that consumerist.com is becoming one of my favorite reads. Although I sometimes disagree with their point of view, they constantly post interesting stories.
This recent story about a conflict over iced expresso between a coffee shop and a customer is flat-out HILARIOUS. Link: Coffee Shop threatens to 'Punch' customer in his 'Dick'
Both sides of the argument are pretty funny, but I'm on the side of the coffee shop owner! His blog response is ridiculously awesome.

I'm a consumerist fan myself. You should try io9.com too.

That coffee shop owner is my hero. Fuck good customer service if they don't like it they can get a punch in the dick =D

You owe it to the good customers to smack the dip-shits around. I don't go to McDonalds to stand behind some fat chick while she spends ten minutes trying to scam a free large fries by complaining to a trainee that her 40 cent cone wasn't large enough. I go there to get crap food quickly. Likewise I don't go to expensive restaurants to listen to some jerk belittle a waiter. I go there for a nice meal and a relaxed, quiet and most importantly friendly atmosphere to eat in. Customer service has been going down hill ever since people got the idea that good customer service = treating every customer like a king. |
Yeah DarkView, you pretty much just summed up my opinion on the whole customer service thing. People are dicks; whether they are trying to scam free stuff or just get their jollies from treating waiters or cashiers like crap.
"The customer is always right" is a load of BS. |
