Summary:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) vowed Thursday to do everything in his power to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision on Guantanamo Bay detainees, saying that "if necessary," he would push for a constitutional amendment to modify the decision.
Graham blasted the decision as "irresponsible and outrageous," echoing the sentiments of many congressional Republicans and President Bush.

To be fair, the Bush Administration argues that we have been invaded by those who are being detained at Guantanamo. In times of invasion, the Constitution allows for the suspension of the writ. We haven't been invaded though. You can only suspend it in the literal sense, and TBA is trying to argue that our invasion of the middle east somehow twists into them invading us, and then detains a lot of innocent people because they have a problem with the current administration or speak against it.. |
Of course, this has little relevance since those people are associated to no country or country's war declaration. And given that some of the detainees are American citizens, it does make sense that they would have the same rights as any other accused citizen.
