In the Independent the other day, it had a plan from the US to ensure supremacy in Iraq, replicating the deal that Iraq had agreed to with the British Empire 70 odd years before.
Under the deal Iraq would have to:
Build around 50 bases for the United States
Allow US aircraft to have access to the air at all times
Give all US soldiers and contractors immunity from all crimes: including murder and rape of civilians
The next day, the Independent had also reported that the United States were holding Iraq's money to ransom in a New York bank.
Iraq has responded by dedicating its support for Iran, and saying that they will not be used as a starting base for any war against their neighbour. It highlights the continuing trouble within the Middle East, in which the new Iraqi Government has grown incredibly close to Iran since the fall of the Saddam administration.
Any war in Iran would likely upstart a rebellion, or even full blown military and economic support for Iran from Iraq.
I don't think the UK cares that much about Iran to be honest :p but the Shah was much more a puppet to the US's plans than the UK's. Maybe up to the 40's, but then the UK kind of died as a superpower and stopped caring as much.
I know there is a lot of problems in Iran, too many people have a say and too many of them are elected behind closed doors, and not enough people vote. Iran has relatively free elections, they just don't get a very high turnout (roughly 20-30% in most elections I believe, and that is lower than the depressing vote figures we get here in the UK). |

They really don't care anymore. I know there is a lot of problems in Iran, too many people have a say and too many of them are elected behind closed doors, and not enough people vote. They don't vote because they don't care any more. There are no more benefits awaiting the economy or the state of the country's overall stance at the moment, and we are pretty much looking in at the face of doom. Prices are going ridiculously high and people are starting to starve because of it. The government fools, instead of using the money they get from exporting oil and crap to boost society, are using it to aid the Hezbollah terrorists in their "godly quest". It is truly embarrassing to have any sort of relation to these pompous fools let alone living along side them in the same country! |
Well the whole idea about the deal weve made with Iraq is good, and its good that Iraq will stay loyal with Iran, which back in the day had taken most of their land, and seems to be almost like a brother nation to them, maybe by doing this then we can have peace in the middle east, but it will take a while to see if this is a true Victory.

Also, the Iranian government is made up of a bunch of amazonian, good for nothing mullah terrorists with too much time on their hands. Living in the country, I can tell you how bad it is. They have ruled out all freedom of speech completely. In fact, I may even get seriously hurt by their intelligence agents for writing these small paragraphs.
