OK I'm making a Zatch Bell game right now and i was wondering which would be a much funner and better way for the players. Ill explain the options.
Option 1:
You start out as a mamodo and you have a NPC follow you.
Option 2:
Have you pick Mamodo or Human at login like Pokemon RP and have them make u battle and stuff.
For you done know Zatch Bell heres a quick summary:
One hundred mamodo (known as "mamono/demons" in the original version) go to Earth every 1,000 years to battle to be the king of the mamodo world (referred to as makai in the original, which can be translated as hell). Each mamodo has a particular element which it can control and attack with, a set of body supporting spells, and other spells (e.g. a defensive spell), all via the use of a special spell book. Each mamodo needs a human partner in order to use his or her spell book, and if his or her spell book is burned, the mamodo is forced to return to the mamodo world. The spells in each book are different for each mamodo (however some mamodo seem to share spells). Each spell has a "level" to it, and the level of the spell is recited before the name of the spell itself (i.e in the spell Dioga Gravidon, or Gigano Reis the bolded word is the level, and the other word is the spell). The human and their mamodo gain these spells through experience. Each spell book is a different color. The last mamodo standing without their book burnt is the new mamodo king.
The main human character, Kiyo Takamine (Kiyomaro Takamine in the original version), is a 14-year old boy in junior high school. His father, Seitaro Takamine, discovers an unconscious mamodo named Zatch Bell (Gash Bell in the original version) while in a forest in England. His father sends the mamodo to be Kiyo's mentor. Unlike the other mamodo, Zatch lost his memory of the mamodo world. Kiyo and Zatch are now caught up in the battle to be the king of the mamodos.

Oops Forgot to make it a poll =P .

Option one, else why be a human, you wouldn't get any of the powers, and you'd have to be online at the same time as your mamodo.
|
I think it should be set up as you play as a Human, and get a mamodo you battle with.
|
Well wouldnt it be kinda hard to code that making your mamodo use zaker and stuff.
|
I wouldn't know, but how do you intend to do the battling? Real time? Turn based? I was just throwing a suggestion out since you can't really do either without the other (assuming you want to say true to the canon of the comic).

Making an npc that follows you around and battles isn't that hard, just use a AI loop for your mamodo and its good.
|
I know thats not hard but to make your self human and the npc that follows you is the mamodo and make it attack instead of you kinda is.

Not really, just make an AI loop that checks if you are in battle, and if so, to attack the enemy, and if it is not in battle, to follow you. Then after that just make all doors/teleports/portals also move your mamodo and you are good. |
Well I don't know. Now that I think about it might be difficult to pull of these types of battles in real time (if you're a human and you're commanding a mamodo).
It would work out nicely I think in a FFT-styled battle system, though I suppose real-time could work. Maybe you could have a seperate set of keys to issue commands the mamodo, and use scree-clicks to issue movement commands. I know this is a really-really -really bad example but in that Mystic Journey game with the pets, only not crappy. |
