Well, I'll be damned. I'm actually making a post that has absolutely nothing to do with games that are submitted to the guild. Maybe that's because I split the member base into 2 default sections, and only gave the people I know wouldn't submit stupidity the ability to submit anything at all.
On to the real purpose of the post however... Recent forum discussion has sparked some interest in the guild as to building a guild related game. I'm sure this will fumble through the cracks, and nothing will get far, just like my CSS requests, however you do have the ability to prove me wrong. So please click here and proceed to do so.
As for the CSS, since I can't make a post that doesn't seem to involve it in some way. It appears that not many people like it(if any at all), yet nobody wants to do anything about it. I've decided that if nobody wants to take responsibility that I'm going to change this guilds CSS to match my own with some revisions(we don't want it identical). If you aren't game for that, then I suggest you make a comment here stating otherwise, because I'm only going to wait a couple days before I do it.
That's all for now, and remember to "play the role, not the roll."

I rather like the overall theme of the current CSS. It needs several tweaks for usability, but overall I think it fits very well with the spirit of the guild. If it must change, could we avoid a black background?

A black background is for a more clean cut look, this guild needs something cheery.
I'm thinking it needs something more along the lines of a nature look. |
I don't like the translucent backgrounds on the posts, or at least they're way too dark as they are. If the backgrounds were colour-matched to the average of the papyrus-grain, the effect would be to produce a "faded" background that was the same colour as the papyrus but less busy.

The backgrounds for the boxes are the same as the background for the webpage, they're simply rotated 90 degrees and darkened a bit.

Ah, I was misinterpreting the internal structure based on the appearance. Just make them a solid colour that's the same colour as the papyrus background, or perhaps a bit lighter. Alternatively, make them the same pattern as the page background but reduce their contrast and increase their brightness to give them a bleached look compared to the page background. Both would vastly enhance legibility. |
Open up a photo editing program(if you have any), and do what you're talking about, and send me the picture. It's much easier than me fighting with the image and changing it 17 times to see what you want.

Also, I was shocked to discover that the background on these pages is a true-colour PNG... especially with the background such as it is, a low-quality JPEG would produce an effect looking almost exactly the same in a fraction of the space! =) |
