And this is why I left BYOND. Its alright I'll just pretend your response doesn't exist like you pretend my scientific studies don't.

Jp: My analogy was directed to Ter13 who said "In my mind, an all-powerful, perfect deity cannot be petty or ignorant.". My point was that power is not related to pettiness or ignorance.

God is an abstract result of knowledge-lacking people questioning the phenomenons of nature. When they can't find an answer for something, they make up their own answers to prevent a massive headache.
The first gods were the ones that were invented purely to explain these natural phenomenons, such as lightning, fire, rain, ... But those gods have all been disproved as these phenomenons were scientifically explained. Today, there are some more "advanced" gods going around: "gods of everything", such as the christian God. Those are harder to disprove because one would need to give logical and understandable explanations for "everything" to disprove these gods of everything. The believers of those gods may accept some of your logical explanations, but it's practically impossible to convince them of all of your explanations for all of "everything". Imagine that people never questioned anything in life, the terms "God" or "supernatural being" would have never come to exist. More even, image humans never came to existence (not counting other possible intelligent life forms on other planets), God(s) would for sure never have been invented. Could we say for sure that in this case, God also doesn't exist? If the wrist watch was never invented, would it still exist? Most-likely not, of course. Theists tend to say that God designed mankind, but I, as an atheist, tend to think of it the way around; mankind designed God(s). |
