I really think that BYOND is a little TO addicting. With games coming every second, it pretty much impossible to quit. i cant believe people did quit. I play it whenever I can. I try out new games a lot and, theres a few games I play forever, and theres some that I play every once ina while. I think you should really get your friends and invite them and tell 'em a little 'bout BYOND.

P.S. BYOND RULZ!....And I like pie!
It use to be addicting for me a long time ago. But now since every game that comes out is some sort of anime, I've lost intrest in playing the games. Also no one likes to host the good BYOND games or the classics, don't say host them yourself either. I created a BYOND Classic guild once and hosted weekly sessions but no one was interested.
Like what kinda of games you play? I could make one. I know most games are Anime like pokemon but those are usealy people play. What kind of "classic" games are there? Theres a few un-anime games but hard to find.

Keep fighting the good fight! Please!

Just visit the non-anime BYOND guilds if you want to see some classic games.

And personally, I do find BYOND addicting, but not because of the games (since 99% of the games on BYOND are crap), its because BYOND gives me the ability to create when I want to create. And since I'm periodically stricken with urges to create something, BYOND is a handy outlet.

Here's some games that I would considered "classic", among others:
Incursion
Laser Wars
Settlers
ShapeShifter
Lexiconomy
Bombard
Kwijibo
DragonSnot
Echelon
Chinese Checkers
Murder Mansion
Red Cap
Tanks
RacingGame
Treasure Quest
I'm with Tom. If you guys just give up on non-anime games, then BYOND is doomed to be Build Your Own Net Anime Based Game
I'm with Calus CoRPS there, I do not like what BYOND changed into.
It started out all with an inventive community (at least back the point I joined and I confess I wasn't with the first few, but 3rd feb 03 is still "older" :P).

People created interresting games and tried to put effort into ideas rather than just making Naruto/DBZ/Bleach clone number xxxx.

I for my part miss playing Proelium (which I would consider a classic game along with others ;)), but I think that some of the games lost their natual attraction due to the lack of players.
BYOND is mostly designed or multiplayer games after all.
Thus it does not astonish that only with a good little base of players, games reach their maximum potential (e.g. StolenLands, Proelium, Freeze Tag, Wurms...)

I think it is a vicious circle...

Btw. Foomer, I fear I have to disagree with you. BYOND has a long list of good games if it comes to my call, just too few people playing them nowadays.

So I agree with Tom, keep fighting, or rather... hosting, playing and helping younger players to learn the classic games!
I'm more addicted to DM than DS.

How is this disagreeing with me?

I think I missunderstood your statement of 99% of the games on BYOND being crap ;)
Never mind that and I hereby apologize

I think its a pretty good estimate! I did a search the other day to see how many anime-themed games were out there and came up with ~7500 on the hub. A handful of those show any kind of quality, and all the rest are crap.

Of course, disregarding anime, there's still RPGs, beginner projects and chatroom programs out there in abundance. Most of which are crap.

Aside from that, there are probably 100-200 games which attempt to be quality, but don't really do a great job of it because the owner ran out of motivation halfway through.

Then there are maybe 50-100 games which are actually quality built games, and most of those are classics.

In my estimation.
Foomer, when ever I see your comments, you type a lot most of the time. Whats your WPM and accuracy? Im guessing WPM is around 70 or 80 and accuacy is around 95 to 100. Tell me when you find out.
If you disregard all the backspacing and correcting, its about 100 WPM and 100% accuracy, assuming I notice when I type something wrong. Why?
