Maybe anyway!
Simple question. The game is a survival horror game, should I add a lot of small items that can be assembled to make things like traps and devices?
For example, a grenade can be fixed with a generic trigger, then that trigger can be fixed to another device, such as a sensor or remote detonator, which when activated will cause the trigger to trigger the grenade, setting it off.
This way you might rig up a grenade to an infrared sensor and put them close together, when someone walks past the beam the grenade is triggered and they are caught in the explosion, and die a horrible death.
And the second question is, if yes to the first question, then should I add even more small items that can be used to assemble items that might be hard to find?
It is not very often that you will find a trigger device like mentioned above just lying around, but making one wouldn't be too hard if you know how and have the parts to do so.
And finally, if yes to the above two. What sort of items, devices and traps would you like to see in a game? (The devices made don't necessarily have to be traps, they could some sort of alarm that is triggered when someone enters an area, or even a device that is used to safely disarm traps).

use screwdriver on appliance -> wires, motor, microphone, switch, etc depending on the kind of appliance
Most appliances have wires. Fans have large motors. Disk players or hard drives have small motors. Phones have microphones. Lamps and wall switches have, well, switches! Toasters, electric stove burners, hair appliances, and soldering irons have heating elements, gas water heaters have thermocouples. You might find a photosensor or electric timer near an outdoor light fixture. Console appliances have infra-red sensors. Remotes have infra-red transmitters. You can get small mirrors from broken bathroom mirrors, compacts, vehicle's mirrors or visor.
use knife on long wire to make many short wires
use knife to strip leads on a cut wire
light + photosensor + wire + trigger + wire + grenade
penlight = short range
flashlight = medium range
laser pointer = long range
optionally: light + small mirror + photosensor...
sound + microphone + wire + trigger + wire + grenade
sound might be a walkie talkie, phone, or tripwire + large metal object, etc
Instead of grenade
- flashbulb that temporarily blinds the adversary
- sparkplug with nearby open gas stove
Outlet + wire + string + puddle
Adversay walks in puddle, breaks string, wire falls in the water, JOLT
Or even simpler things, like trip wire at stairs to make adversary fall down.
heating element + aerosol container -> delayed blast
A butane lighter would work in the same way.
This could get cartoonish:
Tripwire + gun aimed at rope attached thru pulley to overhead grand piano (if you can't ffind an anvil)
