I am interested in developing games and thought I would give byond a try. My 1st games will be just tutorial runs and stuff to learn the system. My 1st release goal is a multiplayer RTS game that is a combination of RPG and a certain sport. I don't want to release the title or theme just yet.
Design stuff to figure out:
Level organization - I think I need a master level from which to choose other levels, a post office level, a chat room selection level, some chat room levels, a shop level, an item exchange level, a tutorial selection level, some tutorial levels, a training selection level, some training levels, a few match selection levels, and some match levels.
Not sure how to handle tournaments and ladders yet...
Master level options - Login. Members receive starting tokens, or fresh ones based on time since last login. New players unlock chat room and tutorial selection level. Get info on each type of level. Choose an unlocked level to switch to. Report top players and your rank. Report online friends and locations.
Post office - Check for letters, open letter, receive attached items, compose letter, attach an item from inventory, delete letters or items. Exit to master level. (need to consider potential abuse of this system by spammers and griefers... filter?)
Chat room selection level - Show unlocked rooms, populated, open, or closed. Get player list in unlocked/open rooms. Join populated open room. Host unpopulated open room. Exit to master level.
Chat room types:
- general: always open for free or member, unmoderated
- free rooms: player moderated, can be closed while populated
- pay rooms: members only, player moderated, can be closed
- clan rooms: members only, clan moderated
If a room matching your clan is already populated, you can only join that clan room.
Otherwise you can join an unpopulated clan room to designated it for your clan.
If all clan rooms are populated by other clans and your clan is bigger than the smallest clan, you can bump them out. This gives their room a 5 minute warning then ejects them.
Chat room options - Say stuff. Choose avatar. Update ignore list. Update friend list. Trade tokens/items/credits with other players or clan treasury, send private message to friend (even if not in room), return to chat selection level (and drop mod key if in possession)
Chat Moderator privs: open, close, mute player, eject player, drop mod key, get mod key, give mod key
Special clan member priv: when in a clan room, you can steal the mod key from a lower ranked clan member.
Clan keys:
- Master key: Allows naming the clan, creating clan keys, configuring rank and key credits, display info about players holding keys, putting/getting stuff gtom the treasury. Master cannot be dropped, destroy master key to search and destroy all keys and disband the clan, give master key to clansman to transfer control
- Associate key: Cannot be traded w/o master key. Can be destroyed. When player holding the master key is offline, the player with highest ranking associate key gets master privs (except can't rename the clan). Limited net treasury access (depends on key credit assigned by master).
- Recruiter key: Cannot be traded without master privs. Can be destroyed. Allows trading clansman keys to players who have no clan keys. Income from trades goes to treasury. Expenses from trades comes from treasury up to the key's credit limit. Credit assigned by master.
- Ambassador key: Cannot be traded without master privs. Can be destroyed. Allows trading friend keys. Otherwise similar to recruiter keys.
- Clansman key: Cannot be traded w/o recruiter key. Access to clan rooms, limited net access to treasury based on credit assignment by master, donations to treasury increase credit but tax contributions do not
- Friend key: Cannot be traded without ambassador key. Access to clan rooms.
Shop level: Buy basic units and gear from the shopkeeper.
Item exchange level: review units or gear in trade, place bids, place stuff and asking price, select immediate trade or timed-auction mode. Timed auction mode means someone has 10 seconds to beat the top successful bider before the trade executes on your items. Exit to master level.
Tutorial selection level: display unlocked tutorial levels. select one. Exit to master level.
Tutorial levels: review instructions, start tutorial, exit to tutorial selection level.
Training selection level: enter open unlocked training level, members can bump free players. Exit to master level.
Training levels: review instructions, do training, exit to training selection level.
Match selection levels: review types of unlocked matches, enter open match level to play against computer, or choose match and wait for player to join for PvP. Members can bump non-members.

Sounds like you've put quite a bit of thought into this. Definitely a good idea to start with some simple projects and demos at first. Best of luck, and I'll be keeping an eye out for your work.
