I think everyone losses. Another game with promise gone from Byond, trolls insulting folks with problems, and the fact that this excuse for a review will live on. Especially since the object being reviewed will constantly be changing, and getting better or worse.

Alright, you guys. As amusing as I find all this, you should probably stop. BYOND RPG doesn't need all this flaming. But....it IS pretty amusing..hmmm? |

Another game with promise gone from Byond, It doesn't have so much promise if it's under Yurgeta's rule. He bans you for looking at him wrong, what can you expect for the game? But the game still exists. He'll just make his own hub where nobody can criticize his game or his rule, just like he runs away from everybody else who's ever opposed him. trolls insulting folks with problems, I'm not a troll insulting him. I'm a guy telling the world out there what Yurgeta's been up to, and why they shouldn't lower themselves to play this game. Fact is, many people agreed with me, and he just can't stand that. But the people that replied to this and constantly went on about his spelling? Oh yes, they're bad. and the fact that this excuse for a review will live on. Especially since the object being reviewed will constantly be changing, and getting better or worse. This is more-or-less a rant about the administration of the game. And this is a good review. A review is designed to let others know what is going on with this game, what the quality of the game is, how the game is maintained. I think I laid it down pretty clearly. And yes, while it may have been outdated, the "Administration" part clearly wasn't. And what is stopping future generations from posting another updated review? Oh yeah, the fact that Yurgeta removed the hub entry. -- Data |
Well yes, the trolling was directed at the Grammar Nazi's, and not Android Data. And I've been asked several times now, 'Why am I standing up for Yurg?'
Truth is, im not really, that's just how many have seen it. He can stand up for himself, im merely pointing out facts as I see them. As a review of Yurg and the SGO managment and current opinions on it, sure, the review is accurate in some aspects. But as a review of SGO, the overall gaming experience as of this moment, this review isn't up to spec. Sorry. But that's jsut an opinion, and like everyone elses, it's not infallible. (Except for pope who apparently is never wrong? Psh) Yurg has taken a very old fashioned stance in his managament of SGO. But he's allowed to do that. Alot of people may not agree, but as current owner of SGO, he can ban and mute and kick and, well, up to the point of Byond rule breaking, anything. So to anyone who doesn't like SGO, and knows they can do better. Do. Put up or shut up. I enjoy playing SGO, one of just a few Byond games which still interest me (and this is after quiting staff there and all). So what if you hate Yurg? He's not on SGO 24/7, but the players are. For all he's doing wrong, the game's doing somethign right. |
This is my first and last post on this thread.
Did Yurgeta not think of asking someone else to write another review of his game, instead of going off on this nancy tirade? So saith JT. |
What I find hilarious here is that Yurgeta pulled his hub entry and his blog. It's not only the yellowest response imaginable, but it pretty well underscores everything that was said about his professionalism.
I find this "blacklisting" concept to be quite annoying. The fact that it earned him a bad review ought to have taught him something. Also, awesome use of the word "nancy", Spuzzum. I can't imagine a more fitting summary of his reaction. I salute you. |
Kobashi: I'm not sure you can use the term "old-fashioned" to describe a management style that involves kicking out people based on what other games they play. I certainly don't remember anyone running things that way in the "good old days" of Ensya, Lode Wars, and RetroQuest. I seem to recall people being given the boot only for their behavior.

When I accepted this review, I realized that yes, this review does look like it might contain a bit of bias, seeing as how Android Data has his own history with the game. Looking at the review, however, he didn't completely let this get in his way, seeing as how he actually was able to point out some good things about this game (notice how this game got a 7.8 in Features, a 9.5 in Graphics, and a 7.3 in Sounds and Music with a mention of what could be done differently (game music)? I wouldn't expect to see anything greater than a 6 if potential bias got in the way, but here Data was giving him greater than a 7 in 3/5 categories.
That aside, we of BYOND RPG don't believe in censoring people's opinions. If the current players of SGO don't agree, there's a yay/nay system here for public use, along with the ability to submit a review for anyone who wants to that doesn't have a bad record with the guild already. And, on a final note, should Yurgeta bring his game back to BYOND, BYOND RPG will not be accepting it back into its ranks due to what has been shown here by Yurgeta himself. |
I understand your point-of-view Audeuro, unfortunately I'm just a regular SGO player along for the ride.
Did I mention that I was banned for 48 hours due to the Blacklisting games rule? Luckily I got it sorted out, although I'm still not allowed to code on another game. |

Alright then, I believe you masterdan. _> is my name a swear word? Also i didnt think the review was even that mean, how can this guy get so offended? If he uses RPGMaker turfs extensively and gets over a 7 in graphics, i mean how can you be mad about that? |
I'm not going to read all of the comments. But for a post to accumulate comments this quickly suggests to me something bad is afoot. If you have a problem with the post email Auduero or I personally and we'll work to a solution.
Anyone found trolling will be banned, just a heads up. Aside from all that, happy commenting. |

This review can be edited to re-tag it to the new hub entry. For some reason, I can't edit this post. I can however delete comments. I also have a "Manage Guild" and "Edit BYOND RPG" link in the above menu for some reason. -- Data |
I've given it, well, I haven't posted in two or so days, but I can't see any new Stargate entries on the Byond hub. In which case, no ones decided to create these better SGOs that everyone seems to have the ability to imagine. Actions speek alot louder then words folks, and on screen text doesn't speak at all.
I still stand by my original statement. Sure, people agree with what Data says in this review. You don't like Yurg. But this isn't a review of Him. It was meant to be a review of SGO on a whole, and in that field this review is a big let down. Comments on how system don't work, when you never even explored how to use them in the first place. And the ingame linking to online content is, well not un-rivaled, REO 2 pwns there. What was I meant to be saying? 0.o |

Alright, consider me a Byond noob, as I can't figure out how to message people. Or even if messaging is possible.
Anyways, some might consider a review that reviews a game played for a short time, not much of a review. Folks don't go see movies for 15mins and then form their overall opinion. But that wasn't you're fault if you were banned, which does give testament to your coverage about administration problems. |
Well, i think Data has been on SGO since it was created. So, some time after, if someone who logs in who hasn't played for atleast 8 months would expect some updates or dramatical updates...if there hasn't then that obviously shows the game isn't being developed on. And from previous comments, SGO had/has many bugs. And this would cause less improvements for gameplay and other categories. The point is, i doubt Data just reviewed for 15 Minutes, even if he did, i would think that those 15 minutes where compared to 15 minutes when he last got to play.

Well in any review I've attempted on any subject, especially online games, alot of things naturally jump out, such as how one is greeted, general chat ingame, what others think of it, etc, and I didn't see alot of that mentioned.
Still, it's all over, and people have clearly voted 'Yay' for Data's review. |
I agree with Data's take on his review. I myself have not spent enough time on SGO to even form much of an opinion on the staff, but after reading this and hearing from others, SGO does not seem like the kind of game I would like to play.
However, basing my opinion on just this reivew of the owner was wrong, until I read his posts in this guild's forum; begging for his game to be removed, and this review be taken down. I can understand that, in a sense, but not with the way he did it, whining like a child and swearing up a poorly typed storm like that.... |
