How come I'm the only one that has a Firefox that sucks with resource management :(

I mean, IE is integrated into the system so it's supposed to be a little faster, but that comes with many drawbacks. However, my firefox takes up way more resources than a browser should need.... As in 99 CPU every 4 seconds >:( It also takes a long time to load when you don't already have a window open.
try reinstalling it
Kunark: The only resource problems I have had with Firefox involve RAM consumption over long times. If I leave Firefox open for a few days, but use it normally, it will start taking up hundreds of megabytes of RAM. I have got into the habit of closing and opening it daily, and that has solved the problem for me.

The CPU thing must be a bad extension or something. Also, websites like GMail automatically refresh parts or all of their pages a bunch. This can take up a bit of CPU, as your browser has to re-render a page a bunch.

I run Firefox at work with no less than 4 tabs open, including GMail and Google Reader, and it runs great. Not only does it run great, but it is actually running off a jumpdrive inside a virtual encrypted drive that is being encrypted/decrypted on the fly(A very nice and free setup. I could drop my jumpdrive anywhere, and not have to worry about all my passwords/form data being found).
I've disabled all the extensions, doesn't help. I can't figure out why it does it. Creating a new profile or whatever works, if I remember correctly, but then I lose EVERYTHING else I need.
lets hope they fix it in the update
Kunark: Try backing up some of the data from your profile, then putting it in a new one. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ comes highly recommended to do the job.
