Anyone watch the Mythbusters special with the rocket car they were going to launch off a ramp?

When they were making the scale model, what was that guy using in the computer room to edit his 3D model? All I can find is track balls made for 3D.


I'm also wondering what he used to scan the old model, but I'm sure whatever that is, I can't afford it :P

Actually, 3D scanners are as simple as combining a laser and a webcam. http://www.instructables.com/id/David-3D-scanner/

As for the software, I'm not sure.

If it's a 3D modeling program, I'd guess something CAD, or Maya or XSI, but I haven't seen the episode in question, so I dunno.

Yeah, if it's just a cheap scanner then I'm guessing the software is expensive.
