I got it the day it was released, but lo and behold, my computer really needed an upgrade (I had the same hardware since I got it the spring of '04), so we got new parts and my friend installed them yesterday. I must say, they were both excellent. Portal is just plain awesome. It's hilarious, and the song playing during the credits is hilarious. The entire game is amazingly fun as well, and the fact that they were able to make me laugh out loud at some stuff is a major plus.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was very good as well. I'll probably go back through with a run on the commentary while trying to get all the achievements I didn't get. The ending was rather unexpected. In fact, I'm quite surprised that Valve managed to get good endings to both HL2:E2 and Portal, seeing as how they tend to make endings that are fairly horrid. HL2's was just awful, and HL2:E1 wasn't much better, so this is a nice change of events.

The Orange Box was definitely worth it. :P
Wait..
You think HL2:Ep2's ending was good?
As in, exciting, or.. happy ending? =/

Anyway, Portal was quite fun :)

(By the way, good lucking getting the gnome achievement!)
It didn't leave you with the question of, "What the hell? What the fuck was that all about?"

Lulz.

I thought HL2: Ep2's ending was just.. kind of random. There's no foreshadowing, no warnings or anything, a c****** ******* just flies in and rapes everything.
Spoiler

It was obvious something was going to happen. Right before you walk into the building where the chopper is at, you hear a whistle/chirp sound the advisors make, and DOG runs off. Alyx nor Eli make any note of it, but DOG never runs off without a reason.
TF2 times nows?
That, and the GMan's warning.
And let's not forget the golden rule: in Half-Life, nobody is allowed to tell you anything of import. The foreshadowing, thus, is obvious.
Anything of import?
