The Acheron's Awakening/Gamers release party has begun!
Unfortunately, my web server is experiencing major issues right now and it's not allowing me to upload the new putgamersontv.com website. We'll just hang out in the game for awhile and see if the issue resolves itself ;)
Come join us!

Really fun stuff, I had a good time. Glad I managed to get online to try it out. Thanks Ben!

The idea was good, and most of the systems was nice, but I did have a few problems.
Controls. This is always a hard task for BYOND games, but the controls in AA just seemed to be clunky. The switch between keyboard and mouse wasn't nice. Documentation. I felt lost for the first 10 or so minutes I spent in the game. Someone said there were some basic instructions while creating your character, but I seemed to have missed them, and it didn't seem I could find them afterwards. Screen Size. OK, this is more of a BYOND problem then it is an AA problem. With the icons at 32x32 the icons looked nice and clean, but were way too small. I could stretch it, but then the icons went all blurry on me. I haven't done the calculations on screen size requirements, but is it possible to do scaled 64x64 to produce a clean image? Besides that, it was fun. There was a big lag problem, but that was both the number of people in the server, and my own connection being flaky (have a guy coming out to look at it today.) The only problems I had with it are completely fixable (and likely would be fixed in a polished finished product.) I can't say anything to the scale of the game, as I had to give up after hitting the first town. |
I also found a few problems with the game during the testing. I'll just name two of them here.
1. PVP. In the game, anyone could declare hostility to another player and immediately start doing damage, without the victim's consent. This results in a good deal of frustration for lower leveled players who get killed without warning and have nothing to do to defend themselves. The same system might be present in Diablo II, but Diablo II has numerous servers that players can leave and join at will, each server with level restrictions. 2. Partying. There should be quests that affect a whole party. Also, there should be some way for party members to relocate eachother whenever they get lost (without the use of worldsay). A partysay would be nice to have as well. |

Please don't kill PvP by actually regarding this as a problem and fixing it. |
He could allow PVP flags. Turn it on, and PVP fights can go as normal. Turn it off and people can request a fight.
PVP is always a hot topic. I don't like being forced into it, but I see the value. |
I'm all about PvP. I know that some people aren't... I suggest that AA players who fall into that category find some powerful friends.
Thanks for the feedback on stuff; most of it is already on my list. Having seen the game in action, I'm sure that many of you better understand why the game needs more work before I actually release it. |
Edit: checking the date this was written, I guess I did. Bah.
