This one starts you off at Brinstar with Varia suit, 79 missiles, screw attack, morph ball and morph bombs.

Just download something like this and enter the password. It will give you exactly what the password does. You can also figure your own out with it.

Nevermind! I found out I had a donation. Woo! Anyway, I read somewhere that Metroid and Kid Icarus use the same kind of password system in that almost everything could be considered a valid password, as long as the last two characters in the code pass a checksum test. Stuff like the JUSTIN BAILEY code is purely coincidental in that the last two characters "--" for the password allow it to go through. Same with Kid Icarus's "8uuuuu uuuuuu uuuuuu uuuuuu", where you start on the last stage and are given a couple dozen bottles (although the max you can hold is only 9). But there is one gimmick password where the game is designed to ignore whether or not it's valid. "NARPAS SWORD0" "000000 000000" |
I guess they could use the same system easily enough.
If you download the Metroid Password Generator I linked to you'll see it comes with a detailed explanation of how the password system works. For the password to be valid it has to have a starting point, a suit and I think a weapon (I'm pretty sure there is more, but I can't remember them). There is also a bit in there which will force the game to reset. This makes a huge chunk of the passwords invalid. They don't do much validation once you've entered it in (ie, you can have all weapons at once in a strange combo-beam), but there's still tons of stuff that wont work. |
Geeze. I need a NES Metroid game
