So what if the Iranian government hates America? So what if they're trying to get nukes? North Korea has nukes, and they hate America. Venezuela is the same, except without nukes. Pakistan's government like us, but everyone else in Pakistan hates us, and they have many nukes. We never had a direct war with the Soviet Union either.
There's really no reason in existance for war that isn't completely overshadowed by the inevitable problems this war will have. Here's why:
1. The U.S. Iraq occuptation. If the U.S. can't bring order to a country of 25 million in which half of the populace wants us out, how could anyone expect it to be easier in a country 4x the size, where most everybody will be against you?

2. The U.S. Military. It's already stretched thin, and the only way the Army can reach quotas now is by accepting high-school dropouts. The manpower needed to occupy Iran effectively would be unattainable without some sort of draft, and we all know how Vietnam turned out.

3. The U.S. Economy. The country's already in massive debt, and should a war against Iran come up, the only way to keep the country's economy from disintigrating would be to triple the tax rate, and nobody will go for that. Additionally, any war with Iran would send oil prices skyrocketing, and no war would be worth paying $15 a gallon for gas.

4. The U.S. reputation. If the U.S. goes out against Iran, we'd be going it virtually alone. There wouldn't be a coalition like in Iran, because9 of the Iraq dealy, and the war would be in much more hostile territory now. Putin's already announced support for Iran, and the U.S. standing in the world is not what it used to be.

5. Iran. For an idea of how much worse a war with Iran would be, look to the 80's. In the Iran Iraq war, the Iraqi military was better equipped, better trained, used Chemical Weapons, had the support of the entire world, and still couldn't win. If the occupation of Iraq has cost over 3000 American lives already, a war and possible occupation of Iran would have staggering human consequences. Iran is much bigger than Iraq, both in number and in size.

Think about it.
NK has actually given up nuclear arms research, and uranium enrichment, in return for foreign aid.
Also, the two missile tests that did actually happen epically failed, apparently.
Agreed.
This guy pretty much sums it all up.

its true that a war with iran would never happen now because of how unpopular the war with iraq was. However the USA has to put serious pressure on Iran and needs to take as many non military actions against it as possible. I dont see why Iran cant have a resolution like North Korea.

Thats defenetly not true. But also the iranian president is viewed as basically a ruthless individual.
death to the infidels. and their big bosomed lady of liberty and capitalism.

Sorry, I agreed for the most part with you, but point #2 is spun terribly. Keep in mind that without the US Draft, we'd be speaking either German, Russian, or Japanese...if we even existed at all. But, I will say it wouldn't be a Vietnam, nor would it be a world war, nor would it be Korea, so you can't use any of those as examples on why a draft would/wouldn't work(although war probably won't happen unless there's a damn good reason, unlike with Iraq)

If we were to go to war with Iran, I'm pretty sure there would be a reason for other countries to help us in the battle. That's not to say that's the case for Iraq, but we should have learned from our mistakes.

If you're talking about World War 2, we we were staying out of that war until Japan bombed us. People welcomed the draft, because most of them wanted to pay Japan back. What did Vietnam do to us? Nothing, that's why it failed.
Danny Glover is a traitor.

We (America) hate every country and we have nukes. =/
We (Britain) like every country and don't have nukes. =/
Uh, yes we do. They recently rebuilt the nuclear deterrent, with the submarines, remember?
I love nuclear-armed subs.
We (Canada) love everyone, and control more nukes than anyone else realizes (403 at last count).
The United Kingdom has hundreds of nukes. Last I checked, Canada doesn't have any, though we certainly have the means to assemble them.

Trudeau was the one chiefly responsible for disarming Canada.
Dear God, all America is about now is war, war, war and more war.

I can't wait until I am outta this angsty country.

Why? Then you'll be on the losing side if you ever face America. =/
