Well first I'd like to explain to those that don't view my blog front page (where I have a FoL news tab), Fighters was put on queue until the end of the month due to the necessary release of MeteorHigh: Halloween Adventure, a cartoon that I need to have published by the 31st.

After the release of this cartoon, Fighters will then again be top "free time" priority and will hopefully get an under-developed-map open testing session in before the hardest part of the game development comes into play, mapping the entire world to fit the storyline and free play.

What I need from you folks (and this won't be the only community I ask) is for your vocal talents, if you happen to possess any.

That's right FoL needs voice actors. Not only for emotes but also for actions, if you feel you have the voice to fill one or more role, simply send an email of an audio clip and your BYOND key to [email protected]. Below are the lines/sounds I would need for every character, and the characters /races that would need to be filled. I also included a textual idea of what the sound should mimic in brackets.

Characters/Races
  • Namek Adult (2 variations)
  • Namek Child
  • Human Adult Male
  • Human Adult Female
  • Human Child
  • Saiyan Adult Male
  • Saiyan Adult Female
  • Saiyan Child
  • Mutant (2-3 variations) [Freeza, Zarbon, Ginyu, etc...]

    Sounds/Voices Needed
  • Attacking (2 variations): Think Street Fighter attacks [ Hyah!, Hut!, etc... ]
  • Getting Hit (2 variations): Simple oofs and ughs work. [ Omph! Uh ]
  • Powerup grunting: Try to get it more like the powerup sound and less like constipation. [ Aaaaah... ]
  • Loud rage grunt/yell Simulated by tone, not by volume [ Yaaaah! ]
  • Laughing: A simple chuckle
  • Crying: A simple whimper works
  • A cough.
  • A yawn.
  • The word "no"
  • A small celebration phrase/one-liner for both good and evil alignments: [ Evil: "I'll see you in the next dimension", Good: "It's a shame it had to come to this"].
  • Some sort of "hello"
  • Some sort of "goodbye"

That should be it for now, all accepted voices will receive complete visible credit within the game. I don't have anything else to offer at the moment but if worse comes to worst me and a few friends can do the voices, it'd just be nice to have a few more available options. If you do decide to put your voice to use, any and all sounds are your own. You decide what they should sound like and if I like them then I will make them work.

Oh, this is going to be interesting.
You could probably sound like krillen if you plugged your nose.
I'm not sure BYOND is suit to handle so many voice files. :(
It can handle 9 million voice files, if he wants people to have to download them all.

These sound files should be pretty small, so it should be alright.
I can make an over exaggerated "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" voice over.

See, that's what I meant. If I calculated correctly, the amount of voice files TNN will be using is over 180(!), and including music and sound effects, the files could weight quite a bit.

BYOND's engine may be suit to handle 9-million voice files, but you'd need a server strong enough to handle that many, too. And with BYOND's slowness, I doubt that's possible.

Voice clips are generally pretty short, and all of these could be compressed with ogg. I doubt all of them together would add up to the length/size of one song.
That's also the beauty of preload_rsc, especially with the new fix. No matter how large the download, it won't bog down the world, and I have plenty of space on my web server. A good 360 GB of space and 3,600 GB of bandwidth.

But yeah small clips won't be too large, and with all my sound editing I do for my cartoons I am almost a pro at keeping them reasonable.

And I feel that sacrificing file size for quality is more than a fair trade.
I would, but my computer have a really strong hum that you can hear whenever I speak into a microphone.
WHEN CAN I PLHEy?
do you still need some bits?
Definitely, nobody has actually sent me anything. It seems the BYOND community doesn't want to be that involved.
I would, but I don't have microphone.

If I can find a microphone somewhere, I'll be sure to do some recordings.
