Because life is a fundamentally flawed, corrupt system that binds our consciousness by coaxing us with fake rewards it invented; enslaving us to a life-time of pointless suffering to ensure the existence of the system.

If you don't know what's on the other side, you may as well try to enjoy what you have.
|
No! The concept of enjoyment is one that has been invented by life to keep you in life's system! Can you not see this? It's a viel of ignorance that we have been forced to continually try and experience!
Unleash yourself from your binds! Ignore emotion! |
There's no such thing as a real one, Theodis. ;)
Which, sort of makes the idea of a fake one moot. Um, so there's this reward. But you shouldn't take it. Enjoying life is like taking candy from the pervert in the car who wants to give you a "lift home". |
I agree. Life is a racket.
Applause, by the way. I knew I could expect sarcasm, but mass suicide goes beyond my expectations. |
Boo hoo, life has no meaning, wah wah wah. Get over it. Either make something up to satisfy you, or accept that your consciousness will never be satisfied and just tell it to shut up. It's only, like, 6% of your brain. All talk and no walk.
|
Hey Garthor: This is my blog and I can emo it up all I want. If you want to whinge about my whinging, then go buy a blog and post it there. ;)
Plus, I don't think I will shut up. I'm trying to save you guys here (without the added annoyance of knocking on your door, mind; you can either read my blog or ignore it- be thankful I don't go round posting leaflets :p). I'm trying to let you see that you're prisoners! |
No! The concept of enjoyment is one that has been invented by life to keep you in life's system! Can you not see this? What does it matter if it's been "invented by life"? Saying that seems like you're looking for an excuse to hate life. |
Also, yes, this post is pretty much a joke. If you want to get to the more hardcore weird stuff, go back a few pages (or 5) on my blog posts.

Saying that seems like you're looking for an excuse to hate life. The importance of it being invented by life is the fact that it's just a means of getting you to live longer. It wants you to live so you can provide for the next generation. It stops you thinking "Hey, this is BS" by providing signals that make you think you're having a sensation of 'enjoyment', so you don't complain. The next generation provides for the next, and then the sun blows up and we all die. All our effort has been in vain, and our 'enjoyment' didn't really happen. Opium for the masses, my friend. Get out whilst you still can. |
Wait, was this whole thing meant to be serious ? :P In a word, Nuhyes. I'm a bit weird. =( |
Lol, I guessed that, but everyone started posting serious comments...got me worried.

I believe your premises are false and thus your conclusion flawed.
1) Life is fundamentally flawed. Please explain. Life seems to do exactly what it does- self-perpetuate. Where is the flaw? 2) Life offers false rewards. What? Maybe this is definitional, but life offers *no* rewards- it can't offer anything. Organisms that are alive have consequences for behaviors, but rewards are incentives designed to condition behavior. This implies planning. And how these can be false.... Conclusion: Life isn't worth living. As stated, your premises are invalid. Even if life is flawed and offers false rewards, I don't see how this follows. Maybe living a flawed life is better than no life at all. How about this: Premise 1: Being conscious is better than not. Explanation: Only conscious beings can evaluate and improve their situation and seek self preservation above almost anything else. Additionally, only conscious beings can meaningfully enjoy anything. This ability trumps any capability for sufferring as shown by the desire to accomplish a goal or experience something despite all hardship, such as fighting for life even if it entails crippling efforts. Premise 2: Living beings, and only living beings, are conscious. Explanation: While not all living beings are conscious, no non-living being has ever been demonstrated as conscious. Thus, living seems a pre-requisite to the desirable condition of being conscious. Conclusion: It is better to be living than not. Explanation: Drawing form the idea that consciousness is desirable and living is the only way to get there, it is better to be living as this entails the only wat to be conscious. True, one may be living without being conscious, but this is still superior to not living as it doesn't preclude the possibility of being conscious in the future, whereas death does. One could argue that this assumes an additional third premise, but I think it pretty fair to say that death is, by and large, considered pemanent. While not a perfect argument, I think it considerably more sound than your original statement. Fire away. |
