If you're not computer literate and using MSN, this warning is extended to you.

If someone tries to send you a file named "IMG-0012.zip" or something -like- that. DO NOT ACCEPT.

My ladyfriend sent me this file, upon unzipping it, I knew something was up. Instead of an actual image, it was a MS-DOS program. Looking through it in Notepad++. It's a C++ compiled program and it did contain the string "GetUserPassword".

Upon questioning her about it, she says she got it from her sister, and she never tried to send it to me. (Thus, it's sending without users knowledge, much unlike those old "Want to see who's blocked you!?" messages that were circulating some time ago.) Running it did force her to logout of MSN for a period of time. I've advised her to change her password, and if anyone else has tried to send you such a file, advise them to do the same.

Yo.
YASVD. (Yet Another Stupid Virus Developer)
Someone tried to send me a file that was supposingly an image, when infact it was a pif file. When I saw it was a pif file, I immediately deleted it (or avoided download). I think I blocked someone for doing that too.
Most of this crap is transfered without the person even knowing they are doing it. The file is made to try to send on it's own.
That is true, but I still block them for a while for safety reasons. =P

You're only at risk if you execute the accepted file.
Instead of blocking the person why not help them get rid of the crappy virus thats what i did....
I was worried that this was going to be one of those "FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO UMPTEEN THOUSAND PEOPLE IN 15 MINUTES OR MSN WILL DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT" things.

Because I have a reputation to uphold. I mean, can you just IMAGINE how much it would hurt my image if people would learn that I actually know people who got computer viruses? How could I recover from such a blow? Even a PR consulting agency wouldn't be able to do anything about it!!!

So yeah, I can understand why he'd block the person, for sure!

I'm so cut you'd think that I would post something like that in a non-mocking tone =(
