Tomorrow is apparently the beginning of the Browns' football season, and this year I will be following their career with greater interest than usual, which is to say, I intend that at any given point in the coming season I will know their approximate win/loss record.
A month or so ago, I made a bet with one of my friends. I gave him a $20 bill at the time -- and now, if the Browns make it to the Super Bowl (they don't have to win it, just make it there), he'll give me $100. Or maybe it would be $120 to cover my original deposit too. At any rate, go Browns!

You're probably not going to win this wager :( That's what Mopey (the guy who got the $20) said too. We'll see! I remember seeing part of the NFL draft on TV (I think I was in the waiting room in a car repair shop). The announcers didn't seem to want to talk about anyone but Brady Quinn and how surprised they were that he wasn't getting picked by anyone. But I didn't realize he ended up with the Browns! Interesting. |
You're right, Gug... Giving a friend $20 is very gentlemanly of you! lol
Anyways, yup, Brady Quinn landed with the Browns... They played him a bit during the pre-season, and he actually made a pretty impressive showing in his first game... Who knows if he'll keep it up, or if they'll put him in regularly, though... Good luck on the wager! It'd be great to see Cleveland get to the Super Bowl... |

Interesting. I think everyone in the NFL was shocked to see Brady Quinn fall all the way to the #22 pick in the Draft (Especially Cleveland fans). There's no doubt in my mind he was the #2 QB in the draft (behind JaMarcus Russell... who still isn't signed for the Raiders). It was fortunate for Clevelnad that he fell that far. |
...However, it's not going to be this year.
Yes, i know this is Brady Quinn's rookie season. But he is still better than Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson put together. (There was another QB too... Tim Rattay or something like that? Some crappy QB they signed from the 49ers?)
Also, there's a really good chance that the Browns could start the season 1-4 or 0-5.
Week 1: Pittsburgh (The only reason i'm giving them a chance in this game is because it's at home and it's one of the most historic rivalries in the NFL... but they're still gonna lose)
Week 2: Cincinnati (Another home game, but Cincy's offense is too good. Another loss.)
Week 3: at Oakland (This is the one game i see the Browns' winning in their first five. Oakland's offense is sad, but then again, so is Cleveland's.)
Week 4: Baltimore (Yeah... no real need to make a statement about this one. Baltimore wins this one easily.)
Week 5: at New England (Pretty much the same thing as Baltimore.)
A poll over at the The Cleveland Browns' official website has 56% of fans voting for the Browns winning a thriller. What do you expect when you ask a stupid question like this to fans in Cleveland?
But yeah, although i'd like to say the Browns are gonna make the Super Bowl... it's not gonna happen.
Browns: 4-12, last place in the AFC North.
Brady Quinn: Starts Week 6 against the Dolphins.
Bold Super Bowl Prediction: Chargers vs. Saints, Chargers win, 35-17.
Edit: All my rambling and i forgot this part. You're probably not going to win this wager :(
