Ripping is stealing, plain and simple...
Someone else has done the work, put in the time and effort, and you've come along and pulled it right out from under them and taken credit... It's no different than plagiarizing someone else's writing for a report, or claiming that someone else's piece of artwork was your own... It is a sign of the utmost laziness and disrespect, and it floods BYOND with endless clones of the same game... Would anyone want to go to their game store and see a hundred different titles on the shelf, yet each one was the same game? And to top it all off, many released sources are poorly programmed to begin with, so you end up with bad code that you don't know how to fix because you haven't put in the effort to learn how to program for yourself... | |

If you wouldnt steal from someone in real life, you shouldnt do it on the internet. All though this is the internet this is also a community with alot of people.
People seem to think that changing the title screen or the map to a game makes it unique and original. But it doesnt work that way. If your going to look at a source (which i dont recommend) use it for learning purposes, not to claim as your game. Its really not fair that people are stealing other people's work, and taking credit for it. Dragon Ball Shuurajou ripped the old dbo2 source, and went as far as selling our work. I kindly addressed the owner and all he said was i cant stop him because theres no copyright on my work. Now how does that sound? And now this thing with the rsc extractors. Its bad enough some games have thier stuff leaked, but now there are noobs running around with rsc extractors. Anyway, Ripping wrong to do and it shouldnt be encouraged at all. | |
