I just found out that the local 24-hour Wal Mart is releasing Bioshock at midnight tonight. Guess I'll have to go buy it.
Yeah, it's really an amazing game. Probably my favorite in years. :)

[edit] It seems that the PC version has online verification and the servers won't be up until 4PM.
Dammit I'm totally screwed by that right now... my game won't activate.

Well shit.
Oh man. Now I'm totally screwed.

I stayed up until 3 AM when the activation servers came online. So I activated my game and booted it up:

Turned out my graphics card doesn't support Pixel Shader 3.0. !#%@
Hay kin I pley AA plx?
What card you running Silk?
ATI Radeon 9600 256mb AGP

...but only the Radeon 1000 series and above support Pixel Shader 3.0
Probably going to pick this up today for the 360. I've been waiting for it for a while now, so I can't wait. Got a 9.7 from IGN, if I'm not mistaken.
Owch. The annoying part is that it's probably not that integral to the game. I mean it's obviously used, BioShock has shown some awesome graphics, but I have no doubt you could get by without it.
Yeah I'm sure that they could have made it compatible with Pixel Shader 2.0. Oh well; sucks to be me, or anyone else who hasn't bought a new graphics card in the past year.

I just went out and spent $130 on a new GeForce 7600 512mb DDR2 card, because I'm an idiot. Now I'm and idiot with $130 less in my wallet... but at least I'll be able to play the damn game tonight.
Silk: That was a pretty weak card you had before, you'd be looking at a solid 5 FPS even if it was compatible. The 7600 will handle it far better, but still not great. From what I hear, my 7950GS will not handle it great, but that may not be true. I'm thinking of buying it on Steam.
Which is why as much as I dislike Microsoft, I'm glad I have an XBOX to play it on.
