I've been seeing so much complaining about various multiplayer games on BYOND, and I've realized that it's mainly for one reason: Other people in games are idiots! How many of you have logged on to your favorite BYOND game, only to have the experience ruined by the other idiots playing? This is only one of the reasons that I prefer single player games. The others include, but are not limited to:

- When you're the only person in a game, you have almost complete power over what happens! You're the only influence!

- On a single player game, there's more room for a fun storyline! Having an in-depth storyline and player influenced game is so much easier when you don't have 40 different people beating level 4 on the same server!

- You can do whatever you want without fear of reprisal! In a multiplayer game, if you say something that even slightly offends someone, you'll get it back at you. In a game with multiple players, anything you do can be seen as offensive to someone else, and if the wrong person has administrative powers on your game, you can kiss your butt goodbye!

- No interference! In a Multiplayer RPG game, you always have other people killing all the enemies, or stealing your items, or killing you because "They feel like it." In Single Player games, you have none of that!

There are so darn many reasons; of course, this just might be a matter of my opinion, but, meh, It also might be because many of the people I encounter in multiplayer games act like total morons.
I tried playing Grei's new game but I ended up getting my experience ruined by a dick that kept killing me for no reason.
Yeah single player games are good but for me since I've always played multiplayer games it feels lonely for me because there's no one to talk to. =/ Plus you can get some tips if you're new.
Hmm.. If there was just a way to convince others to make killing more.. Difficult, or.. *Spawns an idea for a game*

Has anyone really made a game that's.. Life? A game where you can grow up, go to school, go do various activities, High School, choice between College or getting a job, and having a various selection of Jobs. Have a vast community to make "Life" more fun, treat Children to Taco Bell and stuff, have Tom work as the burger flipper (haha =P) and just.. A larger version of Sims, so to speak, with actual creative and fun living situations. (I'd be a hard game, maybe stupid, but hell, i'd play it. Maybe I can succeed in a BYOND Game Life then my own Life! Whoo!)
A funny note. I'll bet that if Existance was made in to an actual video-game, it would almost surely be rated "Adults Only"
Multiplayer games can be fun, but they get boring after a certain amount of time. Single player, you can just keep playing without interference. So I agree on one level, disagree on another.

*nods nods*

This is only one of the reasons that I prefer single player games. The others include, but are not limited to:

K I can't just say *nods* about this, because it goes further. First if you insult the person (or the person insults you), they/you will most likely "get it back". then you'll probably reply with "what the heck?", then they'll make fun of you some more, so you start making fun of them. This process goes on and on until finally it bugs everyone else on the server and all the 40 differant people who were busy trying to beat level 4 are having no fun! :(

In a game with multiple players, anything you do can be seen as offensive to someone else, and if the wrong person has administrative powers on your game, you can kiss your butt goodbye!

*nods nods*
You can also say goodbye if the Admin doesn't like you arguing if it goes on like I just talked about. (This is where the silly newbies on some games like Dragon Warrior Quest always think they're getting banned without reason because they aparently don't realize it gets annoying)

- No interference! In a Multiplayer RPG game, you always have other people killing all the enemies, or stealing your items, or killing you because "They feel like it." In Single Player games, you have none of that!

yay!

I'd never play a multiplayer game again, except that there are zero online one-player RPGs and stuff that get updated :P Everyone (even the big companies like Nintendo now) is becoming obsessed with multiplayer online play =(
actually in MxO, many people ENJOY the rp. like if they join the machines side they will role-play it in game... "Meat Scum... totally inefficient in their actions"

but Single Player games and multiplayer are completely different...

like in Diablo 2, the single player side is fun... however in multiplayer... well the people in multiplayer remind me of DBZ noobs... "can you rush me past act 1?"... Also... a good storyline in a singleplayer game is starting to become rare... for example: In Fable your decisions in the game effect what happens in the plot... and in Deus Ex(DX:IW had more freedom), the same thing!

so meh... I prefer multiplayer because it has more possibilities.
Deus Ex pwns beyond belief.

It's like, PWN.
