Who still misses the hub?! ;_;
I remember it like it was yesterday. Just one small, nice window. A browser, a Hub, and a Pager, right there. You used the Hub, chose a game, and it loaded. The pager was right there, no extra program necessary. If you felt like browsing the Internet while playing, go ahead, browser right there!
But then 3.5 came along!
"You BYONDers and your HUB are gone now! Now, you must VISIT THE SITE! Kekekekekeke!"
Alas, I was forlorn!
And now 4.0 is here, and now the browser is only available if the Info tab is there!
Alas, BYOND.. Alas...

You're the only one.

As far as I know, the only difference between the Browser and Hub button was that Hub defaulted to Byond's site and you couldn't change the address aside from clicking a lot of links.
I still liked having the pager inside Dream Seeker itself, though. If I had the option, I would set Byond to have the pager window when not logged into any games, and automatically go into a Pager tab when I had DS open, but that would ruin custom interfaces for 4.0 Byond games. :/ |
You can always edit your defualt BYOND skin, allowing you to add a browser which effectively has the same functionality as the old hub. I'm fairly certain you can even make it load a page for you right when you start it up.

Yes, but the old hub page is too bugged to use properly, and the guilds? *Shudder* The guilds are barely standable. |
The guilds are genious, and the old hub page isn't that buggy at all. Granted, I do miss the way things were ran in the past, when I actually had motivation to work on a game, and that was getting published by the BYOND staff.
The truth is, the BYOND staff doesn't have the time to review and publish games. The guilds effectively sort games for you by genre. Unpublished contains all of those that don't belong to any official guild, or should I say just any guild? Not sure. |

So you're attributing the guilds to the lack of BYOND staff time? While understandable, I can certainly wait another month or so for new versions of BYOND if it means a decent User Interface. The old hub doesn't work on anything besides Published Games. Which I doubt is WAD. Regardless, I doubt they're going to take away -any- of the new features, nor will they restore the hub. |
The hub is still quite functional. Let's not forget the "Unpublished" section listed on the hub. About the UI, it is as decent as it has ever been. It's got so much more potential than it ever did.
And yes, that is exactly why the guilds were created. It's only a plus considering this community has more and more say in what games go where and if the game is acceptable or not. I'm very thankful for the guilds. It's so nice to be able to navigate the hub without having to skip every 5 entries because of Naruto/DBZ rips, because they are now sorted into the anime guild. and just for the record, what you see now, the guilds and all, that is the hub. The hub is not some retarded button on your UI. The hub is a collection of online, registered games to provide users with an easy way to access them. |
