1) Two UK magazines have reviewed Bioshock (which comes to the States on 8/21 and the UK on 8/24). The scores: 9.5 and 10.
2) I decided to try a Flare-flavored (i.e., cinnamon) pack of Wrigley's 5 gum this morning. It's not bad, but I keep thinking I can detect a faint undertaste of burnt styrofoam. I don't usually notice this in cinnamon gum. Try some and see what you think!

My friend preordered Bioshock, but that's just not my style. Real men go out to the store's the morning it comes out and buy it! |
That works too, but usually takes forever for it to drop in price. Then when you buy it a special edition comes out!
Stupid Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 3:Special Edition. |
Excerpts from some initial reviews:
PC version: 95/100 - PC Gamer (UK) "A dark and astonishing masterpiece...I spend my career, and my gaming life, waiting for a moment when a game just astonishes me, when I can't believe what I'm seeing, what I'm doing. BioShock has five. [Sept 2007, p.66]" 360 version: 100/100 - Official Xbox Magazine (UK) "Amazingly written and beautifully constructed, it's a complete emotional rollercoaster which we can't drawn any parallels with...You'll be playing this game for months to come, exchanging story elements to build up the bigger picture, and arguing about what it all means. [Sept 2007, p.88]" And a video review (that I'm about to go watch)... |
SS2 is a pretty hardcore game...not very friendly to newbies, but rewarding as you start to learn more and more of how you can play the game (which leads to wanting to play again and do it better). I understand that Bioshock will be much more newbie-friendly, but based on SS2, I'd recommend:
- Be willing to start over after a bit once you know how to play the game.
- Realize that this sort of game is designed to be replayed with you making different choices in your character build, and don't stress if you don't feel you got it right the first time.
- There are likely to be many little aspects to the game that you just won't pick up the first time through. But that's part of the fun...
