Now, normally I'm passive against the rips on BYOND. I ignore and don't bother entering them. Sure, they exist, and they bug a lot of people. But whining isn't going to do much. The occasional comment of dislike from me isn't going to change anything (but they are fun to make).

So I accept the rips exist on BYOND. Whoopty doo dar. Nothing important there. But what I do hate about them, is the way the kids limit the game. I'll give several examples.

Example 1 - I want to be GM!
This is the key reason these rips exist. The people who go around making and promoting these rips don't care about the game itself. They just want their name known to the BYOND public. And the best way (in their mind) is to be the owner of a popular game. They don't care about quality just popularity. They're like bad parliament members; it sickens me. If they're not after respect from the BYOND community, they just want to be able to boss people around. Hey kids, you're going to be wife beaters! Aren't your parents proud?

Example 2 - Keeping the best stuff!
Another reason for people love to have their own Naruto game is so they can keep all the best stuff the Naruto world has to offer. Now, I'm not down with all the Naruto jive (and I don't care to be), but I assume that specific leagues or guilds (if you will) exist in the universe as clans. The one thing that bugs me more than the "I want to be GM!" reason is this one. "I want to own and be in total control of the best clan in the Naruto universe!!" This bugs me to the end of the universe. Your game is crap if you limit your players.

Example 3 - I'm Building My Own Net Dream!
No! You're not! You're copying the fifty or so others who have already done it. Sure, it might be your dream to own a Naruto game. But chances are, you're just after the admiration that it supposedly brings. Seriously, come up with your own dream.

That about ends my rant on Naruto rips. I just really hate it when someone creates a game based upon a universe form a TV show, then save the very best parts of that show for themselves. It completely undermines the idea of it.
