For the Members site, I've combined the comments filter (minus the tag restrictions) with the blog filter to add the following to blog posts:

  • Auto-convert http:// and byond:// links to clickable urls.
  • Close unbalaced quotes within tags.
  • Close unbalanced tags.
  • Break up extremely long words to avoid horizontal scrolling.

I looked at a sampling of Members' blogs and didn't see any problems with applying the new filter. However, I'm going to give it a few days before going live so people can double-check their own posts if they like. You can see the new filter in action at http://test.byond.com/members/. Check your posts there to make sure they still look fine.

With this change also comes a new option for whether you even want the default filter applied to a blog post. If you turn it off, you also lose the current auto-linebreaks, so you have to use HTML tags to add your own in that case. This post was saved with the filtering turned off. Since that's not an option yet on the main site, it looks a little funky there. You can see it as it should be on the test site here.

I just saw the announcement. This pretty much covers that request I made for the "E-mail Newsletter" in a less-annoying way. Thanks guys.

Hiead
So.. how do we test this out?
Just use HTML tags and see if it updates on the site? 0_o
