Yesterday Dark-Alex announced that he was leaving the homebrew community. No one knows the full reason but some of the reasons are on his website Dark-Alex.org. But some speculating rumors are that Sony sent a message through the 3.51 firmware that threated Dark-Alex while others say he became board. There are some people already making Custom Firmware but are all quite behind. Another rumor is that someone has already picked up from where Dark-Alex left off. Only time will tell...
Yeah, I heard this news yesterday :/ I think it is now time for you to rise and change the face of the Homebrew Community.
I can barely program anything on psp firmware would be harder. Even though i would like to give it a go one day
I'll do my best to rescue the homebrew community. I just haven't made much progress yet. :/
did they release a downgrade for 3.40?
For 3.50, as long as you have the game Lumnies.
Ya but they fixed that in 3.51. Although some people that are going to downgrade will leave 3.50 on and downgrade.

Have you even decrypted the EBOOT.PBP file yet because if you haven't you have quite a ways to go
Thats one of the fields of research for PSPs I'm still trying to do. The other field is finding interesting exploits, using what I know to see if they work. :P

Exploits such as?
One theory I tried, but failed so far, is the Javascript Exploit theory (which could include Cookie Exploits). Client-side HTML (using Javascript) cookie saving doesn't work so far. :/
And how is the research on decryption coming?
Haven't made any real progress on it yet. I been away from my PSP for quite some time. The good thing about keeping things slow, is that it allows higher possibilities of homebrew that runs even on later firmware. My strategy is to try to get the latest firmware as possible (sacrificing homebrew capabilities for a while), then perform research.
Just make sure you don't brick your psp
Yeah, thats one of the risks I must take. I'll try to becareful as possible.
I'm good at bricking stuff I did it to my xbox but my 1337 hax0r skillz in linux helped me unbrickerize it

Exploiting the PSP firmware via it's built in browser? Haha, good luck with that.
