Ugh. I don't know if it's just because the industry is broken or I'm not patient enough... but waiting for important meetings, waiting on others to schedule stuff and sitting on my hands not being able to take advantage of other opportunities that have opened up in the past two months is starting to drive me crazy!
I'm not just talking about Gamers, although that's part of it. Everything is going just fine with Gamers, but CHRIST, I'm trying to schedule my life around trips to LA etc. and I typically get notice a couple days beforehand. As we work out all of the logistics for Gamers, I'm having to turn down outside offers for sponsorship etc. on an almost weekly basis.
Essentially, I could have had several fully sponsored episodes of the show online by now if I had just done it on my own. Granted, a crapload more people are going to see it with the route that we're taking... but AHHHHHH!!! Just do it already!
I'm really lucky to be surrounded by awesome people in the industry who are mentoring me through the whole thing, and I suppose that being patient is just part of the game. It's just not in my nature...

Have patience grasshopper. I'm actually working on that as we speak! |
I'm actually interested in seeing the SilkGames website. (I assume you are/were working on that, which was the basis for needing my hub_get_contents() function.)

Busy is as busy does. Be thankful you have an income and what sounds like an actually fun job. <.<
It beats having no income or working with raw meat and customers who don't understand the metric system -at all-. <.< |

Wait. Don't you mean Gamers? Nah I've got kind of a separate thing going on with Acheron. Long story. |
Aah, it's the end of semester next week. Which means I've finally completed my Video and Audio Craft paper, Music for Film paper, Screenwriting paper and Video Editing paper! Yay. :) Three week break finally.
Now all I've got to look forward to are my Graphic Design for Video paper, DVD Authoring, Media Culture paper and my Short Film Project. Time to start making movies. :) I'll be sure to get your critique. ;) I'm also blessed with being surrounded by people in the industry here. Especially me old man. He has a lot of contacts which is good networking for me. Infact he's in LA right now doing the last season of the Amazing race. |
Heh, I just noticed; anyone else notice the irony in the phrase: "HURRY UP AND WAIT".

I've got kind of a separate thing going on with Acheron. Long story. You able to divulge at all? |
That's awesome Sinyc! It's sounds like you're enjoying it, which is really important. Definitely let me know when you start making stuff.
A woman who works in my office actually used to be a producer on the Amazing Race. Do you ever travel with your dad to LA? As far as the Acheron thing goes, there is a decent chance that it's going to be professionally remade outside of BYOND and packaged as the tie-in game for Gamers. Crazy stuff. |
Silk -> I made three bug fixes to my hub_get_contents() function. Not updating could result in really annoying errors down the road. The update is in the same location as the initial and the improvement. <.<
-- Gamers and AA in a package... That'll generate the income alright. You have people wrapped around your fingers here from the BYOND version. A full 3D, especially mixed in with a TV show should put you on par with WoW. |
She'll know my Dad then. He's been working for the race since the first season. His name's Bob Parr.
I did travel to LA once, back in 2001 over December/January, whilst they were in preproduction at the office. Quite the crappy little backlot down some alley way near Marina Del Ray. I'll definitely let you know when I have something to show. :) |
If you get really bored of waiting you can finish editing the new adventures of Ben and Jared then send it to me ;) ;) ;)
