So yeah, I went to Barnes and Nobles today, and saw a LINUX section. I was curious, so I decided to take a look. Guess what I saw?
The first 6 shelves in the LINUX section were filled with Windows VISTA books. The very last shelf had 10-15 LINUX books.

That's because normal people don't use Linux.

Normal people /do/ use Linux. Just look at me, I use it, and I'm normal. No response. |
Normal people would take one look at Linux and give it 10 seconds of thought before continuing on with their lives.

If the shelf says Linux, WHAT'S WITH ALL THE VISTA??
I'm a growing un-fan of Windows, but can't decide if I should use a 3rd party program to run windows programs from Linux or OSX. The result of this question will possibly sway what I order when I have the cash to replace this old junker. I like to tinker, but not as much as Linux may require. Then again, I don't like how a Mac distances me from the actual files themselves. Btw I'm eyeing a Dell with Ubuntu or however it's spelled :) |
I thought it was kinda funny, but at the same time I was annoyed. I saw the category from a distance, and thought to myself, "Hey, I have been wanting to give Linux a second try...maybe they have an idiots guide to linux or something..." I get over there, I see "All about Windows Vista", "Hacking Vista","Why Windows Vista?", "Windows Vista IT" and my favorite, "Vista for dummies".
I did find the Linux book I wanted, but it was 20 bucks outta my range. 10 dollars doesn't go too far anymore... |
