This was something I posted on my Tibbius blog, and decided to post it here as well:
Only a small rant today folks, this is something that happened about a year ago that I was reminded of whilst making myself a cup of tea.
Sitting on the computer, working away on a project that has collected dust for a year, I notice I have an empty cup. I grab it as an excuse for yet another break from the project and find myself wandering down the hall towards the kitchen. I can hear the boil of the kettle as I stare out the kitchen window into the everlasting night that only a country dweller would know. The click of the kettle sounds and I pour the water in the cup, smothering the tea bag. I finish making myself the tea and throw the tea bag into the compost.
"Those are 2 cup tea bags, you know." sounds a voice from behind me.
What the hell does that mean, exactly? What the hell could you possibly do with a 2 cup tea bag? Are you supposed to make your tea and put the bag bag in the box with the other tea bags? I'm not sure what this lady expected me to do with the tea bag after I finished making the tea, but putting it back in the box wasn't an option. On top of the kettle perhaps? Maybe I should have just held it in my hand. Nay, I should have done the only thing possible in that situation, shove it down her throat and call her an old tea bag.
People are stupid.
Coffee is good, but it doesn't have the liver cleansing goodness that comes with tea.

lol i love coffee keeps me up till 8am lol. and with me being a UK'er its handy as my games general full of americans lmao.. i sleep in the day, am awake at night, and am on my pc 24/7 so.. coffee helps.. i think im addicted to it again O.o got of the juice ones.. but tea stated to taste wrong so went back to the juice.. lol

It stems from the stupidity of tight asses. The idea is, you save money by reusing the same teabag as many times as possible. Personally, I think it's a total load. I dislike tea from an already used tea bag. It's weak and tastes like old sugar and sour milk.

I've never tried to reuse a tea bag more than once. There's a reason they are disposable. The whole point is that you run the water through the tea bag to get the tea flavor out. You get the flavor OUT. Period. How do you get the flavor out of something twice, once it's out, it's out.

Perhaps the intention is to make two cups of tea at one time with the bag? Only use them when you're drinking two cups, or have a friend over for tea?
You know, like there's enough tea in the bag to turn twice as much water into tea... Double the concentration of tea leaves as a regular bag, or some such... I dunno... Just trying to rationalize the stupidity of the statement... I don't drink tea myself... [Edit:] And I mean that you'd have to use a double-sized container for brewing, and then pour it into seperate cups... Not transfer the bag from one to the other (as stated here already, after the first brewing the tea would have almost completely been used up... that first cup would have twice the tea potency, and the second would have none) | |
usein a tea bag twice is just well SICK....
ive seen some ppl put a new tea bag and hot water, suger and milk in a cup of tea thats cold.. but not reuse the teabag.. even thats wrong, but hey, some like it, some dont, and some just preafe coffee, like me, easyer, gets u hypered up, keeps u awake, and general taste nice if its a decent brand.. like nescafe | |
You do realize that Tea has caffeine it the same as coffee does, and you can get all hyped up on it.

Coffee and Tea have equal caffeine and Coca Cola has more caffeine than both.

I'm pretty sure one cup of coffee has twice the amount of caffeine as a can of Coca Cola.
