Plunder Gnome 1.0 has been polished up and released. Added features include a browser based help system, new maps (some featuring Mobius the tortoise), weight selection for your gnome (light, medium, and heavy), and Seth and Ethan, the computer controlled rival farming moles.
This is a big step for George Gnome, as this will be the first commercial venture in our long history. My father has recently been badgering me about how I pour all this effort into programming something that I'll never get paid for. Though I do this as a hobby, and don't expect to be paid as such, it would be nice to show him a check for $60 and say "This came from my online video games". Along the same lines, I was looking around my wardrobe last week, and I noticed my two favorite vests, neither of which I've worn in the past year because they needed to be cleaned, and I'm wasn't willing to pay the $25 dollars each for the special suede cleaning.
So, that's my goal. Get sixty dollars to pay for gas to the dry cleaners and vest cleaning. If I can do that, and promenade around my father with the check, I'll consider Plunder Gnome to have been a great success. :)
I'm asking for donations of five US dollars ($5) or more. Those who donate that amount will receive the right to download and host Plunder Gnome for the period of one year, and will also have access to the added weight classes (light and heavy). I will also list their key (unless they request otherwise) in a "Thanks" section in Plunder Gnome, probably on the title screen or as a section of the help file (this will only be included with subsequent updates).
I'm also going to try to send donators pictures of Plunder Gnome gameplay suitable for framing, such as are hanging in the G.Gnome main office (my room) and the Providence branch (Phantom Bantam's apartment). This isn't an official part of the offer, though, and if I can't figure out how to send a package through your country's crazy postal system, I may just abandon the entire idea. Such a picture may resemble the images of gameplay found on the game's hub. Edit: You will need to email your physical address to me in order to receive the image.
Here's to Plunder Gnome, Commerce on BYOND, and the independent game developer, Slainte!
