1) How long did the Hundred Years War last? -> 116 years -- I knew this, but I remember some people mentioning around 120-125 years 2) Which country makes Panama hats? -> Ecuador -- Never heard of Panama Hats 3) From which animal do we get cat gut? -> Sheep (and sometimes Horses) -- Knew the Sheep, but not the horses 4) In which month do Russians celebrate the October Revolution? -> November -- The October Revolution Ended in November, didn't it? 5) What is a camel's hair brush made of? -> Squirrel fur -- I knew this 6) The Canary Islands in the Pacific are named after what animal? -> Dogs -- Knew it couldn't be the Canary, but didn't know it was the dog. 7) What was King George VI's first name? -> Albert -- Remember this from somewhere 8) What colour is a purple finch? -> Crimson -- When you think about it, Crimson is almost like purple. I tend to think of colors like Red, Green, Blue, to be umbrella terms. Blue to me could be turquoise, teal, navy blue, denim, baby blue, sky blue, etc. So Purple could be lavender, crimson, violet, etc. They were probably named before we had names for every slight variation in color. 9) Where are Chinese gooseberries from? -> New Zealand -- Didn't know this. The Chinese has "some" avid sea explorers. Did the Chinese discover them while in New Zealand? | |

Smart people remember dumb people forget or haven't been told. Alot of smart people say stupid things because they do not know how to use there brains. So what are you trying to say Worldweaver? And Kunark whats "Trivia" to do with anything?

Because "what you know" does not determine your brain's processing power. I consider "smart" as someone with high processing power, which can be determined through things like timed IQ tests. Trivia is only qualified for people who have 1) learned the problem already, and 2) can pull it out of their memory.
If you've never been taught this kind of stuff, which most people haven't, it can't be used to determine if they are smart or not. If you HAVE (say, you get a lecture on it and then are tested for it afterwards), you can only determine if the person has skill in rbinging back memories, which is only a single part of many processes of the brain. | |
And Woodyo, "trivial questions" are what you posted, meaning they were worthless questions that are only for people who have learned about them in the past. A question that wouldn't be trivial, would be something like a mathmatical question, or science that everyone should know.
