Here is a bit of footage that I took from the Acheron public preview. It's been cut up, so there are a few jump cuts.

It basically shows me learning a new spell, then shows me in the town square killing a few people with the spell "Hurricane Nova". Keep in mind that I was about 10 levels higher than the people who I killed!

All I have is a Quicktime version. You need Quicktime 7 to view the video.

Wow, that looks nice. Any projected date for release to BYOND, if any?

Also, just out of curiosity, what did you record this video with?

It's free and it is freaking awesome!

I don't have a projected release date yet, although I'm definitely going to be devoting a lot of time to it in the next couple weeks. Today's test proved that the game is 100% stable and fast, which is a major milestone.
Nice hud system, makes me sad. I thought mine was good.

I'm going to go cry in the corner, then get back to coding.

Thanks, I'll have to look into it.

Well, if/when you come to the point to where it's into public testing, or out of testing, shoot me an e-mail over at [email protected], and I'll add it to BYOND RPG, and probably even feature it. AA has actually inspired me to work on a few of my old projects.
Roflmao, im on it. the guy running around with a bow and purple top. WooT
You use pots?! Noob :O

That looked like fun though, I wish I could have been there for this. That hurricane nova looks like it has a much wider range than the Warlock attack in proelium. :)
Thats awesome silk, I really enjoyed the party yesterday.
I wanna play AA Again :(

It's memorial day man, we need our fix!
looks cool
I have a couple of questions, though:

1) How do you plan to balance area effect spells (like the one you demonstrated) that are relatively easy to target vs melee attacks that require much more precision?

2) Would you be available for a BYOND Fantasy interview at some point?

Two ways: Melee attacks are generally much stronger than AoE spells, and they cost *much* less mana.

Sure, anytime.
Silk, Check forum for graphic offering.
Silk, I see that there's a private version of the game up a lot, and if you'd like, I could put a lot of my time into testing the game. I know it needs to be done, and it doesn't look like oyu have very dedicated testers.

Also, maybe you should make 3-5 new testers, so they could test all the aspects of the game, including player-interaction stuff.

PS: I need my fix.
Heh. Every time I look at the listing of live RPGs, Acheron's Awakening is always there with 0 players, and always unjoinable.

More public testing please. :(
Yeah, that's why I want to help test, plus I love the game, and would be honored to help with it.

EDIT: I didn't see the "public" in your comment.

I don't think it would be the right decision to make public testing yet, but have a set of maybe 4 testers who would play the game if there are bugs in it or not.

(I'm one of those people who would play the game no matter what :P)
Who says no one is testing things? Just because there are no players listed doesn't mean some of us haven't been busy testing stuff.
I haven't seen anyone in AA, and beside that, I would be extremely glad to help test the game.
I don't doubt that there's plenty of testing being done (especially since Silk has more time to focus on the game than before), but what I want is to have what we had before; anyone who cares enough to request to be added to the list of testers for that session can be let in to help test.

At any rate, Silk will eventually need more than just a couple of private testers in order to test some things. :P It'd certainly be easier to see how all specs fare in PvP if there are ten times as many people playing.
