Just got Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PC...and wow..its great! I expected it to be good but not THIS good. It really makes you realize how far videogames have came in the past few years...You can do practically anything, way more freeroaming abilities than in grand theft auto and other games where "limitless" was infact very limited. And there are so many different ways to play...Ontop of the gigantic map which takes well over an hour to run across..theres hundreds of quests and spells and things like that...If you haven't played this then you have no idea what you're missing...

I suggest you find out how to join the Dark Brotherhood, just because of the sheer awesomeness of their missions. Talk around. There's a rumor on how to join, and this rumor is true. ;D

I hope that the next installment of the series fixes some of the perennial gameplay issues, such as balance and context sensitivity.
In Oblivion, it's always safe to wander around, since the monsters are scaled to your ability level. You can never "stumble upon something awesome and terrible" that you have to run from. This takes all the fear out of the game, making you essentially an unstoppable force of nature. Some players may like this, I do not. The game's quest system is not context-sensitive. Once, standing on top of a mountain on Oblivion, I was visited in a casual manner by a courier delivering a message from a totally unrelated quest. It totally ruined the "immersiveness" of oblivion environment. Those problems, along with the game's myriad improbabilities and unrealistic dialog, etc, made the game still pretty dull for me. |
