Kinfolk: A Hearthside Tale

Servers

  • Servers can now be hosted by anyone. The instructions to do so are found in a readme file in the game files. Feedback on this system would be greatly appreciated!

Localization

  • Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese have been added to the game's default files.
  • Localization files that are missing a translation will now display the key for the missing translation, instead of just "NO STRING".

Mechanics

  • Many more cards are complete now.
  • There is now a settings menu that can be used to adjust volume levels and select language.
  • Added a game menu (Escape).
  • Added fermentation, done by adding mash (3 barley cooked in a cauldron) to a fermentation tun and covering it until it's done fermenting. Produces Ale.
  • Added Job Chests (golden trimmed chests) to each building, these are used for stockpiling items to complete card objectives.
  • Changed the control for throwing objects.
  • Smithing hammers no longer stick into walls.
  • Added kegs and ale mugs to the tavern, they function as normal vessels.
  • Heavy items can now be thrown.
  • Moving now closes the radial menu.
  • Seed bags now properly collide with other objects.

Audio / Visual

  • Changed the in-game font to be simpler and less stylized, easier to read and consistent across languages.
  • Cleaned up how cards display text, so they're a bit cleaner and more informative now.
  • Added volume settings to the config menu. These settings save and should be consistent across all servers and when the game is closed and reopened.
  • Tweaked the rendering setup for vessel masks.
  • Vessels now animate a bit cleaner when their contents change.
  • Fixed an issue with vessels not accepting mouse clicks or hovers when the mask was hovered over.
  • Added a grunt sound when picking up a heavy item.
  • Fixed an issue with vessels losing their mask when thrown.
  • Fixed an issue where UI wasn't updating correctly when a new round began.
  • Opening a container now displays the container and name at the top of the radial menu.
  • Fixed an issue with the camera not properly recentering on the player when transitioning between locations.
  • Items now stick to players correctly.
  • Some sounds were not previously affected by volume settings.

The Town

  • Added in a proper lobby area (it's a duplicate of the tavern, currently).
  • Added fermentation tuns and a bit of food to the Inn.
  • Added a bit more inside various crates and chests around the town.
